SAMSUNG has launched its 990 EVO Plus Gen4 SSDs which provide a significant improvement over the original 990 EVO SSDs. Samsung fans can expect PCIe 4.0 support, faster read and write speeds, and better power efficiency, among other things.

Samsung SSDs include a nickel-coated heat shield that reduces overheating, AES 256-bit full disk encryption, and Samsung's TurboWrite 2.0 software to improve transfer speeds and reduce lag.

Samsung 990 EVO Plus Gen4 SSDs are available in three sizes and prices. The 1TB model retails for $109.99, while the 2TB and 4TB models cost $184.99 and $344.99, respectively. Surprisingly, that's a lower price than Samsung's original 990 EVO SSDs, which cost $124.99 for the 1TB model and $209.99 for the 2TB model. That makes it an even better deal, as Samsung points out that sequential read and write speeds are improved by 50 percent and power efficiency is improved by 73 percent compared to the previous model.
