Some Zero Zone without Zen players are upset that, following the recent 1.4 update, they can no longer look at their characters' panties. With the highly anticipated 1.4 update, Zero Zone without Zen received new characters and a new part of the main story, but what seems to dominate the conversation around the patch is an otherwise small change that was deemed “censorship” by the player base.
Zero Zone without Zen was released by HoYoverse in early 2024. Partly due to the success of other titles made by the developer, such as Genshin Impact AND Honkai: StarRail, Zero Zone without Zen it quickly became a huge success, reaching over 50 million downloads soon after its launch.

The release of update 1.4 for Zero Zone without Zen It was supposed to be a great day for fans, but the community seems very unhappy with a change introduced by the update: players can no longer peek at their characters' panties. The 1.4 patch notes state that “when viewed from specific angles, the Agent will appear washed out,” which essentially prevents players from adjusting the camera to look under a character's skirt. Parts of the community didn't like this change and it's not difficult to find angry players accusing HoYoverse of censoring the game. Some of the arguments include people saying that they spent money on the gacha to unlock specific characters and that this is an unfair alteration that they didn't foresee.
Zenless Zone Zero fans accuse the new update of “censoring” the game
Unfortunately, HoYoverse has not addressed the controversy and it is currently unknown why the change was made. While it's possible the change was made due to the game's age rating, it's impossible to know without official comment. HoYoverse has also been generally receptive to feedback, so it's possible this change could be rolled back.
In addition to this controversial change, the new update brings several improvements Zero Zone without Zen. For example, the PS5 and PS5 Pro versions of Zero Zone without Zen will now have ray tracing support, and two S-rank agents have been added to the game: Hoshimi Miyabi and Asaba Harumasa.
Hopefully, future updates will be more well received by the community. Earlier this week, HoYoverse revealed a new S-Rank agent for version 1.5 of Zero Zone without ZenAstro Yao. The new character will be part of the “Stars of Lyra” faction and has already been confirmed to be an Ether support character. It is currently believed that Update 1.5 will be available on January 21, 2025.
