Indiana Jones and the Great Circle recently released on PC and Xbox consoles, with Dr. Jones' latest adventure taking him across the world to fight Nazis and investigate the mystery of the titular Great Circle. The adventure explores several religious and historical mysteries in a way that only Indy can, and it's very clear that MachineGames understands who Indiana Jones is. The release at the end of the year, of course, means there are bright things on the horizon for 2025.
It's a single-player game, so fans should manage all expectations with this in mind. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle will undoubtedly receive support in the future and the next major updates are already known. Beyond that, fans should probably be prepared for Indy to hang up his hat sooner rather than later, but perhaps not forever. Let's hope MachineGames continues to develop Indiana Jones games, and it would be interesting to see how MachineGames builds on its current formula.
Indiana Jones and The Great Circle will have a busy start to 2025
As already mentioned, Indiana Jones it is a single player game. In an industry full of live-service games and microtransactions, where the most popular games each year are “forever games,” it bears repeating, once players finish Indythey will probably move on, as is normal. For those who are joining later or are waiting for another opportunity to join, there's plenty coming.
Game updates and PS5 release date
The most obvious and safest expectation is standard updates. MachineGames will undoubtedly fix the problems, improve the game, and release updates for at least a few months into the new year. But beyond the standard there are two important things: the PS5 release date and the Order of Giants DLC.
MachineGames confirmed this Indiana Jones and the Great Circle will arrive on PS5 in Spring 2025. For those waiting to try it on their favorite platform, it goes without saying that MachineGames and Bethesda will confirm a release date early this year. Until then, fans may just have to wait and see.
The Order of the Giants DLC
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle has one DLC listed for post-launch: The Order of Giants. However, MachineGames hasn't said much about it yet. For Game Rant Advance, we asked MachineGames if there was anything to share about the DLC, and lead narrative designer Tommy Tordsson Björk told us:
The only thing I can say is that we will explore some of the myths you will learn in the Vatican and find out more about the hidden history of Rome. It will be an exciting adventure worthy of Indy!
Therefore, eagle-eyed fans may want to double-check everything they find in the Vatican. Some fans believe that this DLC will delve into the Nephilim Order introduced in the game Indiana Jones and the Great Circle but not in depth. If so, it will certainly be an exciting adventure, but fans should also expect some twists and turns.
The supposed Xbox Showcase
The biggest question right now is when fans will learn the PS5 and Order of Giants release dates. While nothing is confirmed, rumors suggest that Xbox will host a major Direct event in January. It hosted events in January 2023 and January 2024, but as it stands, 2025 could be Xbox's biggest year yet. With games like Stated, South of Midnight, Doom: The Dark Ages, Towerborne, FableAND The external worlds 2 currently scheduled for release next year, it has a lot to show. It's possible that some games will be delayed or moved, but if there's a major Xbox event, it will make more sense to show Indy's future there. It could also feature more significant reveals than this, but the best expectation right now is just its PS5 release and DLC.
What lies beyond the Great Circle
Depending on what is shown at Indy early in the new year, if anything, it may be possible to shift expectations. A second DLC might not be impossible Indiana Jones and the Great Circlebut it could be that MachineGames only wants to make this DLC. In any case, fans should keep their expectations focused on the PS5 release and the DLC, and if it expands beyond that, let it be a nice surprise.
MachineGames, of course, has never been one to rest on its laurels. THE Indiana Jones and the Great Circle The studio is reportedly working on numerous unannounced projects, in addition to its latest title. One of these could, in theory, be DLC, and in the end it is unclear what exactly these projects are. However, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle it was a big step forward for MachineGames, Bethesda, and Xbox, and it will be great to see what comes from MachineGames over the next couple of years.
