What Are Hard Objectives?
Hard objectives are your mission’s backbone. Right from the start, they’re laid out on your tablet, clear as day.
Your tablet can be pulled up in-game by holding ‘Tab’. It will go over mission specifics and lay out your hard objectives in bullet-point form.
Hard objectives are the must-do tasks, the checklist for successfully completing the missions. They tend to be objectives like arresting suspects or finding civilians. They’re transparent, allowing you to strategize and execute your mission simply without guesswork.
You’ll know you completed all the hard objectives, but not all the soft objectives, when the prompt “Mission Soft Complete” pops up in the top-left corner.
What Are Soft Objectives?
Soft objectives bring a layer of complexity to your missions. Unlike hard objectives, they’re a mystery at the mission’s beginning. You won’t find them on your tablet from the jump; you’ve got to be the Sherlock Holmes of SWAT and spot them yourself while completing missions.
After you complete a soft objective, it will then pop up on your tablet.
Soft objectives are related to the mission’s story, such as collecting additional evidence or finding unique NPCs. They reveal further things about the lore, so finding what they are is part of the fun.
Completing soft objectives gives you bonus points towards your final mission score, allowing you to hit that coveted S rank. They are not required, however, to successfully complete the mission.

Finding soft objectives is no walk in the park since they aren’t explicitly laid out for you. As you explore, pay attention to items and NPCs indicated by a magnifying glass icon prompt that are not listed as hard objectives.
