Key points
- The new dungeon, Vesper's Host, introduces new gear, four new legendary weapons, and Icebreaker as an Exotic.
- The Bray Legacy Origin trait is one of the best seen in Destiny 2.
- Weapons like the VS Velocity Baton and VS Chill Inhibitor make the dungeon worth grinding for loot.
Vesper's Host was the first dungeon to be introduced into the contest mode and brought back the famous Ice Breaker Destiny 2 finally as an exotic release. In addition to the Exotic Sniper Rifle, players will also be able to get their hands on a brand new armor set and four new Legendary weapons. There are dungeon rumbles that allow players to focus a specific weapon per run through a secret chest, which will definitely make farming these weapons easier.

Destiny 2: How to Get Ice Breaker
Ice Breaker has made a triumphant return to Destiny 2, and here's how you can get your hands on this exotic sniper rifle.
Overall, Vesper's Host weapons all come from one great archetype. There are no swords or glaives to confuse the loot this time around, but players will have to be selective and discerning with perks, especially for weapons that are a little further down the list. All four of these weapons come with new Bray hereditary ancestry traitwhich is quite powerful, as dealing any damage with these weapons generates a bit of magical energy for the ability that is closest to full charge. Without further ado, here's how Vesper's host weapons rank up in terms of perk strength and usefulness in PVE.
4 VS Gravitic arrest
A Void fusion rifle with tough competition
- God Rolls: Repulsor guardian and withering gaze
At the bottom of the pack is the dungeon's Void fusion rifle, VS Gravitic Arrest. There are already a few other fusion rifles that compete with this one, making it hard to justify ranking higher than this. Null Composure, for example, comes to mind as a great alternative.
But for those who want to collect them all, an interesting shot combination could be Repulsor Brace with Withering Gaze, mainly against tankier enemies like champions and mini-bosses. Withering Gaze has the power to weaken the target after aiming for a while, and then Repulsor Brace provides a Void Overshield once the weakened target is defeated. There are also other options here, such as Under Pressure and Chain Reaction, but for lovers of Void, Repulsor Brace remains the best option.
3 VS pyroelectric propellant
A Bow Auto Rifle featuring a new Bow Perk
- God Rolls: Strategist and shocking feedback
Auto Rifles are still good in the meta, but not all are created equal, and it's hard to top something as amazing as Rufus' Fury from the Root of Nightmares raid, even if these two weapons aren't fighting for the same weapon slot. It might still be worth getting the VS pyroelectric propellant due to an interesting arc advantage: jolting feedback. This perk gives players access to Jolt while using this weapon even outside of the Arc subclass.

The final Army of Vesper encounter in Destiny 2 pits players against the Corrupt Puppeteer and his irradiated clones. Here's how to defeat them.
The other viable perk can really only be Strategist, at least for PVE. The overall perk pool for this auto rifle isn't fantastic, but at the same time it also makes it easy to see which two perks would probably work best overall for every PVE player out there. In some cases attrition balls might be a niche option. For now, the Strategist wins in its advantage column, along with Jolting Feedback.
2 VS Speed Stick
A denial void aerial grenade launcher
- God Rolls: Demoman, Bait and Switch
Here's an interesting addition to the grenade launcher pool: a Void grenade launcher with air denial. Similar to the Stasis air denial caster from last episode, this one also comes with that area of effect archetype that's very reminiscent of Witherhoard, without the sacrifice of an Exotic slot.

Destiny 2: All Revenant Weapons, Ranked
Destiny 2's Revenant episode includes new weapons available thanks to the new Onslaught activity. Here's which ones to grind.
Not only that, but his second column of perks has Bait & Switch, making him an absolutely fantastic option for damage weapon rotations this season. Remember, grenade launchers can now weaken enemies thanks to the Concussive Reloader artifact perk. For a quick reload, Demolitionist seems like the easiest option here, as all the other perks in the first column just seem lukewarm in comparison. Players should definitely consider trying to fit it into their arsenal, as it has the potential to surpass its main competitor, Spire of the Watcher's Wilderflight.
1 VS Cold inhibitor
Stasis heavy grenade launcher
- God Rolls: Envious Arsenal & Bait and Swap/Surrounded
Finally a dungeon weapon worthy of its salt. VS Chill Inhibitor is showing great promise, but whether or not it can surpass Bitter/Sweet as a powerful new heavy grenade launcher remains to be seen. As far as benefits go, there's a lot to love here, with Cascade Point and Envious Arsenal in the same column. In this case, Envious Arsenal is the obvious choice.
In the second column there are two good options, but one of them is highly situational. Bait and Switch is the safe option for damage rotations, providing a 30% damage boost when players deal damage with all weapons in short succession. However, Surrounded technically provides a greater damage increase at 35%. The problem is that players must have at least three enemies in close proximity, which won't be the case for all of the game's boss encounters.
