LONDON: At a London sports field, Maya Hassan proudly watches as around 30 women, mostly Muslim and from ethnic minorities, take part in a self-defence class she organised in response to a wave of riots that have seen violent racist attacks on Muslims and migrants. The 28-year-old martial arts expert said she wanted to help women of colour learn how to deal with abuse and build connections and safety after more than a week of rioting targeting mosques, asylum seeker hotels and the police.
