TV host Tony Armstrong ‘hard launches’ new singer girlfriend and Aboriginal advocate Rona Gylnn-McDonald

Australian heart-throb Tony Armstrong has set social media ablaze in a surprise late night post debuting his new singer girlfriend.

The former Sydney Swan and Logie award winner revealed in an Instagram post that he was dating musician Rona Glynn-McDonald.

The photos, captioned “Been a nice time”, showed the pair together at a range of formal and informal events, as well as being intimate.

Ms Gylnn-McDonald, who performs under the name stage name Rona, is a Kaytetye musician and producer based in Melbourne.

She recently completed a residency with TripleJ and is set to perform a Boilerroom set at the Sugar Mountain Festival in January.

A vocal advocate of Aboriginal issues, she is also founding chief executive of Common Ground and director of charity First Nations Futures.

News of the pair’s new relationship quickly made waves online and within only 30 minutes had already garnered more than 5000 likes.

A number of celebrities welcomed the news, including former ABC host Myf Warhurst and KIIS radio host Brittany Hockley.

Other users were also quick to support the new couple, with one user writing “Gets our Yes vote” in reference to October’s referendum.

In recent years, Mr Armstrong has been a vocal advocate for First Nations people after a career with the AFL in Adelaide and Sydney.

In 2022 and 2023, the 34-year-old picked up a number of Logie awards, including the Bert Newtown Award for Most Popular Presenter.
