MAETH and Rogue Games, Inc. have announced that Steam FPS game, Expansionwill arrive on consoles in the future. Steam has a plethora of first-person shooters available for purchase, such as AAA titles like call of Duty, HaloAND Fall of the Titansto various indie FPS games such as Forgive me, Father, Ionian furyAND Ultra Kill. These indie titles sometimes draw inspiration from some classics, such as Destiny AND Earthquake, Expansion making no exception.
Developed by MAETH and published by Rogue Games, Inc., Expansion is a first-person shooter influenced by idSoftware Earthquake franchise, described as having EarthquakeTwitch-like gameplay that requires mastery of various weapons and quick thinking to defeat its many enemies. Expansion is set in a dystopian cyberpunk city ruled by artificial intelligence, with the player controlling special operations super soldier, Seven, in his quest to escape the city. The game was first released in August 2023 for Steam and the Epic Games Store platform, with a GOG release shortly after, garnering a lot of positive feedback that placed the game in the “Very Positive” category. Sprawl is coming to PlayStation and Xbox consoles
From Expansion was released over a year ago on PC, it also has an active community. Expansion was originally created using Darkplaces, a modified version of Earthquake's, therefore, to celebrate its first anniversary, the developers of Expansion has released a full conversion game mod for the game that runs on the original Quake Engine. This mod makes the game more authentic to its inspiration.
Since the developers said they would be putting the finishing touches on these ports in August, this is likely to happen sooner rather than later. However, it is not known whether other platforms such as Nintendo Switch or its successor are planned. When asked about a possible physical version of Expansionthe account noted that if there was enough interest, it would be something the developers would “love to do”.
