Nintendo Switch Online subscribers just got a new game to play, like the 1995 Game Boy title The land of Donkey Kong is now available on the service. The release of The land of Donkey Kong on the Nintendo Switch Online service it arrived a few days after the SNES classic The land of Donkey Kong celebrated its 30th anniversary.
Originally released by Nintendo and Rare in June 1995, The land of Donkey Kong is a 2D platformer inspired by the The land of Donkey Kong trilogy. Considered one of the best titles of the Donkey Kong series, The land of Donkey Kong it even spawned its own trilogy, with two sequels launching in 1996 and 1997. The land of Donkey KongDonkey Kong and Diddy Kong are tasked by Cranky Kong with replenishing the Kongs' banana hoard after their longtime enemy, King K. Nintendo announces a great Switch Online deal, but there's a problem
Nintendo is launching a fantastic Switch Online deal ahead of Black Friday 2024, although its promotion has an unfortunate problem.
Although the Switch Online service had already been updated in November, fans were given even more content to enjoy. The land of Donkey Kong is now available for download on the Game Boy app for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers. Users should connect their Switch consoles to the internet and the Game Boy app should update automatically. Alternatively, the app can be updated manually by opening the Options menu, scrolling to Software Update, and selecting Update via Internet. Once the download is complete, the system will check if you have an active Nintendo Switch Online subscription. Nintendo has released a short gameplay trailer for The land of Donkey Kong to give players an idea of how it will look in the app using the classic Game Boy filter. To play you can also use the filters for Game Boy Pocket and Game Boy Color The land of Donkey Kong. The trailer showcased various environments that Donkey and Diddy will travel through, including some that will require passing animals to ride.
Nintendo Switch Online adds Donkey Kong Land to the Game Boy roster
The arrival of The land of Donkey Kong is just the latest in a series of games developed by Rare for older Nintendo platforms. Between the release of Banjo-Tooie AND Perfect darkness on the Nintendo 64 app, players have seen some of Rare's work return to Nintendo platforms via the Switch's subscription service. Although other titles like it Donkey Kong 64 remain elusive at the time of writing, it remains to be seen how the Switch Online service will close out 2024.
