STALKER: Trilogy of legends of the area is now available on NintendoSwitch. This release promises to strengthen the selection of engaging RPG-FPS hybrids on Nintendo's hit console.
Developed by Ukrainian studio GSC Game World, the STALKER The series currently comprises a trio of titles released for PC over a three-year period ending in 2009. These games have amassed a cult following thanks to their immersive worlds and challenging gameplay loops that combine first-person shooter mechanics with exploration , horror elements and an equipment guided progression system that RPG fans will love. A reissue of the STALKER subtitled trilogy Legends of the Area it was dropped for the last two generations of Xbox and PlayStation consoles in March 2024. GSC later confirmed that this bundle would also be coming to Switch.

STALKER 2 confirms a highly requested feature
Developer GSC Game World confirms that a fan-requested feature is coming to STALKER 2: Heart of Chernobyl on all available platforms.
The company made good on that promise on October 31, when the Switch version of STALKER: Legends of the Area landed on the eShop. As with the Xbox and PlayStation versions, these conversions can be achieved in two ways. First, they're available for purchase separately, priced at $19.99 each. Alternatively, all three games can be purchased together for $39.99, effectively offering a savings of 33%. The PlayStation and Xbox versions of STALKER: Legends of the Area they have been discounted three times since March 2024, dropping as low as $27.99. It is therefore possible that the trilogy will also see frequent discounts on the eShop.
The STALKER trilogy is best addressed in order of release
Change players interested in playing STALKER trilogy would be better off tackling the games in the order they were released. While their stories work as standalone experiences, there's still a lot of narrative depth and context that those who play the games out of order are bound to miss. Furthermore, Clear sky improved The shadow of Chernobylit's the mechanics, very similar The call of Pripyat refined Clear skyso tackling these titles in no particular order might make the older ones seem much clunkier in comparison.
STALKER 2 is just around the corner
The Switch port of STALKER: Legends of the Area arrives just weeks before the highly anticipated fourth installment of the series. After four delays, STALKER 2: The Heart of Chernobyl is finally scheduled for release on November 20th. The long-awaited title will be available on Xbox Series X/S and PC. It was also long ago confirmed as a day-one release for Xbox Game Pass. The console versions of the original trilogy took no development resources STALKER 2as they were handled by Polish porting specialists at Mataboo instead of GSC.
