The FRV can beat Exosuits in a big way

Helldivers 2 has entered a great period of change and it is paying off in many ways. The Illuminate faction, long teased by leakers, has finally arrived to threaten Super Earth and comes with a new type of urban terrain for players to navigate. Perhaps most interesting is the new tool players can use to explore that terrain: the Fast Recon Vehicle, or FRV. A car has been at the top of players' wish lists for months, so it's a relief to finally have a proper means of transportation. It might get some reckless Helldivers killed every now and then, but it's worth it in the name of managed democracy.

The FRV seems especially long overdue given that players have had Exosuits at their disposal for a few months now. Exosuits are certainly powerful, but they aren't fast or agile enough to truly serve as a means of transportation, which only further demonstrated the need for a proper vehicle in Helldivers 2. Now that the fast reconnaissance vehicle is here, it also has the opportunity to surpass the Exosuits in a second way. Exosuits are still only available in a couple of very limited forms, but the FRV could easily fill the gap in terms of variants.

Helldivers 2's FRV needs variety to stay fresh

There is no doubt that the Exosuits have entered Helldivers 2 they are powerful. Heavily armored and unshakable in battle, they are both capable of tearing the enemy to pieces; THE Exo-49 Emancipator Exosuit
autocannons can pierce armor, while the minigun on the Exo-45 Patriot Exosuit
it is suitable for mowing hordes. However, since they were added, Helldivers 2 did not add more Exosuit types, despite the large potential for variants. Anything from a flamethrower suit to a suit with dual machine guns could offer some useful options, but these have yet to manifest themselves.

The brand new Fast Recon Vehicle finds itself in a similar situation for now; there is only one type, armed with a heavy machine gun. Just like Helldivers 2 sentries replicate all types of powerful support weapons, Arrowhead Game Studios could add all types of FRVs mounted with different equipment. Anything from an autocannon to a ARC-3 bow launcher
a missile launcher could prove invaluable when combined with the mobility of a car. Arrowhead could also add an FRV with an empty turret slot where players can lock their support weapons, giving them a more stable way to fire their heavy equipment.

Aside from variations on the FRV's gun turret, Arrowhead could also add a range of different car types without straying too far from the original design. Perhaps the simplest option would be a more heavily armored car, a little slower than the original FRV, but offering more protection from incoming fire. Between the Illuminati Voteless hordes and the many smaller Terminid units, players might also get some use out of an FRV with a spiked plow on the front to better cut through the crowd, though it would be logical if they had to do so. trade some rear armor in exchange.

It's hard to say if Helldivers 2 will be getting more vehicles soon, but there's no doubt that Arrowhead has opened the door for them. While it doesn't push the limits of vehicles by adding something like a tank or helicopter, it can use the FRV as a base and add some variants over time. The FRV is great as it is, but there are a lot of situations and missions Helldivers 2 where a different type of turret would be more useful than a machine gun. Let's hope that the developer pays off this long-awaited novelty Helldivers ploy by adding a few more combat options for fans to plan for.
