The Origin
The Rise of Evilus
The terrorist organization Evilus has been around for a very long time since it helped build Knossos, the artificial underground labyrinth. When the gods descended to the mortal plane, some came down not to bond with humans but to cause chaos, and they found mortals who had the same intentions. Gods such as Thanatos and Electo banded together to form a coalition of Familias with the goal of spreading fear. However, where there was evil, there was also good, and good was in a much stronger position. Zeus and Hera Familia were essentially the peacekeepers during this time, so Evilus couldn't make bold moves otherwise they would be destroyed.
To combat this inconvenience they settled in different environments of Orario. They had diverse members including adventurers, merchants and even civilians, a vast network of information and resources that satisfied their needs. So, when Zeus and Hera Familias were rendered inactive after their battle with the One-Eyed Black Dragon, it was no surprise that Evilus took advantage of this lack of guardians and began wreaking havoc appropriately, leading to the Age of 'Dark Age of Time.
The Dark Ages
Since the Familias that kept Orario's peace no longer existed, Evilus was finally able to unleash their true strength, battling the guild for control of Orario for approximately 10 years. These 10 years were truly one of the darkest moments for Orario as everyone was the recipient of this violence. Even civilians were not spared. Evilus had tried to take control of Orario by weakening them from within, and they spared no expense, taking the most drastic measures for the hell of it. The worst thing was that they were everywhere and knew almost everything. With them, among the people of Orario, distrust was at its highest level because you could never know who was watching. Even today, Orario is marked by this era, takes appropriate measures to ensure they are not infiltrated as they were, and is constantly on the lookout for anything suspicious.
Evilus structure
A decentralized organization
During war, it is a common strategy to eliminate the leader first, as this always destabilizes the rest of the troops, thus ensuring victory. This is a weakness that Evilus did not have. While they contained many Familias, they had no true leader. Since the purpose of their gathering was to create chaos, it became standard that those who caused the most chaos and were considered dangerous were the ones in charge of the organization. At the time there were three Familias that shared these attributes: the Thanatos Familia, the Electo Familia, and the Apate Familia. These three Familias, with powerful adventurers led by powerful, dangerous deities, were the core of Evilus. Even Orario's strongest adventurers had difficulty with this group.
Although they were a powerful organization without a true leader, this was not their main strength. Their main strength lay in their infiltration of society. Evilus' ability to infiltrate various sectors of Orario and beyond allowed them to gather intelligence and resources that allowed them to advance their agenda with efficiency. By blending in with the population of Orario, they sowed distrust among the masses, making it difficult for the peacekeepers to identify them and thwart their plans. This also made the inhabitants of Orario paranoid as they could never truly tell who was who. This, combined with their decentralized nature, made it easy for them to recover after suffering losses as the fall of a Familia, no matter what, was not the end of their agenda.
The fall of Evilus
End of the dark ages
Even though the Dark Age lasted a very long time, the Evilus did not emerge victorious even with their structure and information network. Seven years into the current timeline, the Freya Familia has launched an all-out attack against the Electo and Apate Familias. These two main groups of Evilus suffered heavy losses, as they were barely a match for the Freya Familia. Some members managed to survive this battle and went underground, hoping to recover and strike again. However, they too were destroyed by the captain of the Loki Familia; Finn, who led the cleanup operation to completely wipe out the remains of these vital Familia and ensure that this time they would not be recovered.
Five years before the main story, the violence-inciting organization was finally defeated by Ryuu Lion, a former member of the Astrea Familia. After his family was massacred by the Rudra Familia to Evilus, Ryuu went on a rampage and was able to single-handedly destroy the entire Familia and avenge his family, dealing Evilus an extremely heavy blow in the process. This ultimately brought about the end of the Dark Age, leaving only a few members of Evilus, who could do nothing significant, scattered across Orario and beyond, allowing Orario to heal from the bloodshed of the last ten years.
The future of Evilus at Orario
The rebirth of Evilus?
The decimation of Evilus was a major victory for Orario, ending one of the city's darkest ages and allowing Familia such as Loki and Hestia Familia to thrive in a much more stable environment. However, the seeds sown by Evilus were not completely eradicated. While the organization itself no longer exists, there are still remnants of it scattered around the world, still operating in the shadows. This could potentially lead to another group of Familias, stronger than ever, who would form an organization like Evilus and plunge Orario into despair once again.
If this were to happen, Orario could find itself in grave danger. Even with their absence, Orario already faces threats from Evilus' foreign allies who are anti-Orario. The most concerning aspect is their contribution to Knossos. This Labyrinth could very well be their path to a new assault. If the remnants of Evilus were to retake the labyrinth and use the hidden passages, they could infiltrate Orario undetected and launch attacks from within. If Evilus were to resurrect, with its vast network, hidden allies, and Knossos, the damage that would be done to Orario would be nearly irredeemable, changing Orario forever.
