Players have nicknamed the characters “Onion Knights”, not as a reference to a famous character game of Thrones character, but due to the bulbous shape of their Catarina armor set.

The centerpiece of jayrobodog2560's Onion Knight costume is built around the 2020 Wrapped Traveler Mask. It is based on the Traveler, within which the Guardians traveled when they entered the Pale Heart in Destiny 2: The Final Form. Its globular shape matches the “masterfully forged curves” of the Catarina Armor helmet. The rest of the costume is crafted from other similarly curved armor pieces, such as the Gensym Knight's Gauntlets, Nohr Plate, Turris Shade Leggings, and Mark of the Great Hunt. The entire set is given its off-white color through the low-rarity Desert Matte shader.
