Here's how to build Camelya in Wuthering Waves!
Understanding the basics of Depths of Illusive Realm will ensure that you can earn its rewards with each update and have the resources to research and build the next character you want. We'll go over all the essential information here.
How The Depths Of Illusive Realm works
The depths of the illusory realm, which you unlock at Union level 17, is a rogue-lite mode similar to Honkai: Star Rail's Simulated Universe, with some key differences.
- Only take one character at a time.
- THE the only bonuses your character has are his skills and weapon stats. Echo enhancements are removed.
- Any additional characters you earn provide assistance skills only.
- You can use the characters provided by the game if you have none at the appropriate level.
- At high difficulty, you can add modifiers to make the experience easier or harder for smaller or larger rewards.
There are six difficulty levels in Depths of Illusive Realmstarting at level 70 and increasing in five-level increments until the maximum difficulty is level 100. Of note, since the maximum character level in Wuthering Waves is 90, any enemy higher than that will inherently have increased damage and stamina to damage depending on the difference between your character's level and his.
Once you enter the business, you will make some initial choices:
- A skill upgrade based on the character you chose.
- An echo skill which provides additional attacks, as well as power-ups and new abilities once unlocked.
- A token which changes how you progress through the mode.
The mode itself takes place in a series of arenas, starting with ten at level 70 and increasing with each difficulty level.
Metaphors
Your first arena will always be a single encounter area where you will face some easy enemiesand once defeated, you can interact with the white cat to choose one of the three Metaphors.
Metaphors are rogue mechanics, in-activity updates that not only give you improved statistics. They also come in one of four elements, each of which enhances different aspects of your character:
Element |
Effect |
Description |
---|---|---|
Aerodynamic |
Improved Concert/Intro skill and cooldown |
Streamlined buffs are designed to increase Concert and Intro skillsespecially when you have one or more summonable teammates. The higher their level, the more powerful and varied the effect. There are some that reduce the cooldown of your abilities. |
Electro |
Improved resonant capacity |
Electro enthusiasts are all about improving both your ability to resonate and releasewhether it's increasing damage, adding effects, or reducing cooldowns. |
Fusion |
Increases damage in terms of critical/damage/attack rate |
Fusion enthusiasts are very simple. They are designed to increase damage dealt in some way, whether by increasing your critical damage, speed, or attack stat. |
Glacio |
Shield/HP buff application |
Glacio enthusiasts are among the most comfortable on offer, providing and enhancing shield effects and increasing your health and damage resistors in other ways. |
The elemental upgrade you choose will depend on two factors: the character you are using in Depths of Illusive Realm and the Echo you have chosen at the beginning of the activity.
Between the two, improving the echo is probably the most important thingas their effects can make or break a run. If you collect enough of two particular items, you might have enough buffs to make most fights a breeze.
If you come across a metaphor that doesn't fit your current Echo but would greatly improve your build, Don't be afraid to pick it up. This is especially true, for example, for a level three metaphor that increases both critical rate and damage.
How to overcome the depths of the illusory realm
Overcoming Depths of Illusive Realm is a matter of skill, endurance, and a little luck. Being a rogue-lite mode, the metaphors, echoes and tokens you can get are random, so you won't feel overwhelmed with every run. That said, there are some key strategies you can use to succeed more consistently.
- Always choose Bridged Dreamscape when it appears. You can add an assistant character to your roster by completing the single encounter within, and these are invaluable on higher difficulties.
- Choose an Echo that has synergy with your character. Equipping Bell-Borne Geochelone on Shorekeeper, for example, can make her nearly invulnerable with enough investment.
- When possible, choose Memory of a Fierce Fight have multiple arenas and, therefore, multiple metaphor choices per room.
- Spend your dream fragments wisely. Whenever you encounter the Ebon Guardian, first spend your currency on Echo-specific upgrades, then supplement your build with whatever else is suitable.
The most important thing is that update the thought evolution progression board. Each run into the depths of the illusory realm will award memory points, and spending them on thought evolution nodes will immediately and permanently upgrade your character (for the current cycle, anyway). These upgrades increase your health, damage, critical rate, and provide additional bonuses that make even the hardest difficulty, level 100, a much easier task to beat.
Don't be afraid of failure
. If your characters aren't up to scratch from a build perspective, or you have a bad run with worse RNG, you still get Memory Points to spend on improving your performance in the Depths of the Illusive Realm.
Don't forget it there is no need to attempt the highest difficulty available to you, and there's nothing wrong with using Trial characters for higher difficulties. You will still receive points and mysterious specimens for participating in or completing lower difficulty races which you can spend to eventually tackle more difficult content.
Ultimately, Depths of Illusive Realm tests your fundamentals with every character on your roster. Dodging, parrying, and skill usage are all tested here, augmented with the additional buffs offered by Metaphors.
Rewards from the depths of the illusory realm
There are two main reward paths in the Depths of the Illusive Realm.
- Eco in-activity and material rewards. For completing important milestones in the Depths of the Mysterious Realm, you will be able to spend 1 of 12 reward points to obtain a collection of high-rarity Echoes, including boss Echoes, as well as a large number of upgrade materials.
- Astrite and currencies earned by spending Mystery Specimens in the Mystery Shop outside the activity. You'll need to complete increasingly higher difficulties to unlock access to everything, but the Mystery Shop is one of the main ways to access the Astrite rewards, XP materials, and crafting items the mode offers.
The number of in-activity rewards you get depends on the difficulty selected. For difficulties one to three, the reward percentage will be fixed, but once you unlock the level 90 difficulty, you can add modifiers to the activity.
Helpful modifiers called Reverie Memes make Depths of Illusive Realm easier but reduce the rewards you receive. These include being able to more easily improve your combat rating (Symphony rank), provide bonuses and buffs to higher symphony ranks, and so on.
Harmful modifiers called Nightmare Memes make the Depths of the Illusive Realm more difficult but increase your rewards. Applied debuffs can be fixed reductions to your defense or HP, or they can increase the damage enemies can do, and so on.
Symphony Rank works like combat ratings in Devil May Crywith consistently good performance that raises your rank up to SS and taking damage or not attacking for extended periods, causing the rank to decay down to D rank.
The number of modifiers you add depends on your goal for the run. If all you care about is completing it as quickly and easily as possible, load up Reverie Memes and have fun If you want a real challenge and rewards commensurate with that struggle, you can make Depths of Illusive Realm a real meat grinder.
Whichever method you choose, Depths of Illusive Realm is a fantastic way to test your skills.
