For half of the season, episode eight focuses on setting the scene for the Counter Attack arc, with much of the episode following the war council and their plan to take down the witch cult. With the powerful Reinhard van Astrea available to fight, Subaru and his party, filled with characters from all sides of the Royal Selection, converge, creating certain groups to take on specific Archbishops of Sin throughout Priestella.
While much has been set up, some interesting details emerge, with the revelation of the Tome of Wisdom still existing and Theresia van Astrea being brought back into the fold, setting up situations that could dramatically alter events to come. In the final moments, Emilia's U-turn on Regulus at the wedding ceremony and the arrival of Subaru and Reinhard give the audience a glimpse into the all-out war that's about to erupt, with the episode putting the pieces in place for a 'epic second half. of the season.

Among the best moments of the episode is the exploration of the difficult relationship between Reinhard and Wilhelm van Astrea, with Subaru and Wilhelm's conservation on the subject being serious and intriguing.
Despite much of the episode's convenient and satisfying content, the cliffhanger of Subaru and the citizens of Priestella falling victim to the new character Sirius sends Subaru back in time, a situation the character must face once again.
4 Episode Four – “Operation: Take Back the Government Office”
Subaru's War Party, full of eclectic characters, takes on the witch cult
Midway through the third season, a war room and group are quickly established following the witch cult's devastating attacks on Priestella. Guided by characters like Subaru, Anastasia, Wilhelm, and Julius, the protagonist is surrounded by many fan favorites as the team calculates their next steps. In response, a newly formed war party with an array of characters confronts a group of witch cult members near the town hall where Capella was stationed.
The combination and teamwork between characters like Crusch Karsten, Garfiel and Julius makes for epic viewing. However, the episode's cliffhanger reveals another archbishop of the gluttony of sin, Roy Alphard, making events even more difficult for Re:Zeroas the story arc heats up.

What it guarantees is pure chaos, as Reinhard, Beatrice, Subaru and Emilia all attempt to target Sirius, to no avail, with the chaotic action sequences that are thrilling and mesmerising. After the epic battle between Sirius and Emilia, the appearance of Regulus coming to kidnap the half-elf leaves the episode on a cliffhanger, with Subaru left in despair as he watches the one he loves be declared the bride of the vile Archbishop of the Sin of Greed.

In Subaru's biggest performance of the season, the feisty protagonist literally takes center stage, serving as the voice and representative of the group seeking to destroy the Witch Cult. Initially starting the episode with the brief but interesting conversation between Al and Emilia using the communication mirrors, Subaru becomes the focus of the war group.
In one of the best moments of the season, Subaru gives a heartfelt and emotional speech that touches the citizens, giving them hope against the Witch Cult, while dispelling the Authority of Wrath. Subaru's triumphant speech shows the characters' growth since the beginning of the show, with the once selfish and ignorant protagonist finally becoming a worthy champion for Emilia and Lugunica.
