The best Energy Acceleration cards in the Pokémon TCG

The Pokemon TCG makes it very easy for you to put the Pokemon you want on your Bench. However, the biggest obstacle before you can start collecting prize cards is being able to KO your opponent's Pokemon. There are many powerful moves that can achieve this, but with a limit of one Energy per turn, it can be quite slow.

Luckily, some cards allow you to speed up the amount of Energy you can attach to your Pokemon per turn, which can help you set up the field faster. From item cards that can take Energy from your discard pile to Pokemon that will search for Energy for you, here are the eight best Energy Acceleration cards in the Pokemon TCG.

8 Dark patch

Allocate dark energy from waste

Dark Patch is a powerful Item card that allows you to attach Dark Energy from your discard pile to one of your Pokemon. While an additional Dark Energy might not seem like much, what makes this card fast is the fact that it is not a Supporter card. This means you can use as many as you want per turn as long as you have Energy to spare in your discard pile.

Dark Patch is a must for any deck that uses Ogidogi EX or uses Poison to power up their Pokemon. If you manage to return this item to your hand after using it, you can continue using it to attach additional Energy cards to your Pokemon.

7 Baxcalibur

Water decks gain infinite energy

If you use Chien Pao EX or any Water Pokemon, then Baxcalibur is a must for your bench. This Pokemon's Ability, Super Chill, disables the only Energy per turn limit found in most decks. This means that as long as it's on your Bench, you can attach as many Water energies as you want from your hand to your Pokemon.

This can make it easier to power up the end-game moves of your strongest Pokemon. For Chien Pao EX, this allows you to instantly put any Energy you add into your hand from your deck or discard pile, so you can eliminate your opponent's Pokemon faster.

Attack Steel Energy from the deck

Steel-centric decks have an excellent way to get more Steel Energy on their Pokemon. This is the Metang printed in the Pokémon TCG: Temporal Forces set. The Pokemon TCG: Silver Storm set has one of the best Energy Acceleration cards. Archeops specifically searches for Special Energy cards from your deck and allows you to attach them to one of your Pokemon. This is a fantastic ability to have because most energy acceleration effects deal with base energy instead.

This helps you make cards like Reversal Energy work, and because of the text, it would also be able to recover Ace Spec cards that are treated as Special Energy. Since many special energies already help prepare your Pokemon faster, this doubles the speed of your setup.

One of the biggest problems with energy acceleration tactics is that you actually have to have a way to put that energy into your hands. Not all strategies include a way to play Energy directly from the deck. This is why searching for it and adding it to your hand is the best thing to do.

Earth Vessel is an Item card introduced in the Shrouded Fable set and can fit into many decks, making it a real staple. By discarding a card, you may search your deck for any two basic Energy cards. The best part is that this is an Item and not a Supporter, so it doesn't consume your only Supporter per turn.

2 Superior energy recovery

Recycle more energy at once

There are many Pokemon moves that consume all your energy. This is because they are removed from the discard pile as a cost of using a Powerful Move. This can lead to you not having any more Energy to search through your deck. Luckily, there's a way to get those cards back in no time.

Greater Energy Recovery allows you to discard two cards from your hand to add up to four basic Energy cards from your discard pile to your hand. So even if you're playing something like Chien Pao EX, you have a way to get those resources back and use them again the next chance you get to attack.

1 Joltik

The ultimate energy acceleration tactic

The Stellar Crown set introduces one of the greatest Energy Acceleration cards of all time. Joltik is a Basic Pokemon that has a single move. This is Jolting Charge and allows you to search for and attach up to two Basic Grass Energy and Electric Energy from your deck to any of your Pokemon.

This gives Electric and Grass decks a big advantage in terms of setup speed as this Pokemon can collect four Energy in a single turn. Being a basic Pokemon, Joltik does not need to evolve to have this move ready for use. If it eventually evolves into Galvantula EX, it becomes a powerful hitter and a powerful Pokemon to have in the game.
