Game Rant can exclusively reveal The Witcher: The Bear and the Butterflya new release from Dark Horse Comics. The upcoming title will expand Dark Horse's ever-growing comic book library powered by CD Projekt Red The witcher games.
While the CDPR franchise is itself based on Andrzej Sapkowski's The witcher books, the Dark Horse comic series consists mostly of original stories that draw from the games rather than directly from the famous Polish author's works. The only exception is the second volume, Fox childrenwhich is a partial adaptation of Sapkowski's sixth The witcher novel, Storm season.

Dark Horse has now announced yet another The witcher comic series, The bear and the butterflywhich Game Rant can exclusively reveal. The series features a story, written by Simon Spurrier, about a remote town that is said to have a problem with a bloodthirsty vampire, who is supposedly killing the local citizens. The bounty on the vampire eventually becomes large enough to attract a wide variety of monster hunters, including Geralt of Rivia. There's also another witcher in the mix, one from the Bear School, who rivals Geralt in his quest for the bounty.

The bear and the butterfly will be published in four issues, the first of which is scheduled for April 23, 2025. The debut issue can already be pre-ordered for $4.99 at local comic shops. Dark Horse has yet to specify concrete release dates for the next three comics, but its track record suggests they will most likely release about a month apart from each other.
The first issue of The bear and the butterfly will have four covers, of which the main one will be written by Stephen Green, known for his work on The Hell boy comics and science fiction series Sea of starsamong other projects. The three cover variants will contain drawings by Aaron Campbell, Mattia De Iulis and Tim Von Rueden. The bear and the butterfly will be the tenth series of The witcher comics published by Dark Horse. The most recent addition to the ongoing franchise was RavenWhitea five-issue series published between May and November 2024. The bear and the butterfly It should arrive soon after The Crow's CrossingSapkowski's latest The witcher book that follows a teenage Geralt. While The Crow's Crossing has already been released in Poland on December 1st, its official English translation is currently scheduled to debut in early 2025.
