Star Rail's new Amphoreus characters take on Greek myth

Honkai: StarRail is officially traveling to the fourth planet, Amphoreus, in version 3.0, and the Trailblazer is ready for an exciting journey. Plus, in true HoYoverse style, Honkai: StarRail also teased the new playable characters that will be released in the coming months.

Also known as “The Eternal Land”, Amphoreus is said to be a mysterious planet that not even the Aeon, Akivili the Pioneer, has reached. Based on the initial teasers, the planet features Greek-inspired elements, such as how divine entities were responsible for the planet's creation and a glimpse of the design choices for the surrounding environment shown in Honkai: StarRailThe Golden Epic trailer. The new Amphoreus characters also appear to be based on characters from Greek mythology and other prominent figures from Greece, which could bring an interesting twist to their personalities and backstories.

Amphoreus characters known so far

Aglaea

Known as “The Golden Weaver”, Aglaea carries with her the Flame of the Core of Romance and is tasked with summoning the heroes who will bring down the gods and revive the dying world of Amphoreus. In Greek mythology, Aglaea is one of the three Charities, representing beauty, glory and ornamentation. She also became Hephaestus' second wife, soon after Aphrodite. Additionally, Aglaea is a 5-star Lightning character following the Path of Remembrance, making her debut in Honkai: StarRail Version 3.0.

Tribbie

Described as having three faces, Tribbie is a messenger who walks many paths and resides according to divine order. It is possible that she is a representation of Hecate, who is a Greek goddess depicted with three heads or faces and is often associated with crossbreeds.

Anaxa

Named after the ancient Greek philosopher Anaxagoras, Anaxa is described as a scholar who “investigates prophecy and disrespects the gods.” This seems to be in line with Anaxagoras' spirit of scientific inquiry, which he applied to his cosmology and other philosophical studies.

Iacino

Hyacine is depicted as a young-looking girl and is said to be a priest who will heal the sky and rebuild the mystical kingdom of Amphoreus. It is possible that it was named after Hyacinthus, a Spartan prince who became Apollo's lover.

Mydei

In the Golden Saga trailer, Mydei is depicted as a fierce warrior, comparing him to Ares, the Greek god of war. However, his full name, Mydeimos, is likely based on Deimos, a Greek deity and son of Ares and Aphrodite.

Cifera

Also known as “The Fleet-Footed”, Cifera has cat-like qualities and is capable of moving quickly. So far he is the only character without direct references to Greek mythology. However, Ciphera comes from the word “cipher”, which is a type of cryptography used by the ancient Greeks to protect information.

Castorix

As guardian of the River of Souls (Styx), Castorix immediately becomes an obstacle for Charon, the boatman who transports the souls of the dead to the Underworld. In terms of name, HoYoverse may have based him on Castor, who is half of the Gemini twins.

Phainon

Described simply as an unnamed hero, Phainon is likely based on the Greek god of the sky and representation of the planet Saturn, Phaenon. Many fans also pointed out that Phainon looks like Kevin Kaslana Honkai Impact 3rdso it's possible that he is another alternate version of an existing HoYoverse character.
