GSC Game World continues to release brand new updates to its hit first-person shooter survival horror game, STALKER 2: The Heart of Chernobyl. The latest patch arrives just in time for the holiday weekend, bringing numerous improvements STALKER 2 just one day after the popular title received its biggest update to date.

On December 19, publisher and developer GSC Game World released a huge STALKER 2 update that included over 1,800 bug fixes, tweaks, and quality of life improvements. Various fixes have been made in Patch 1.1, including NPC generation adjustments, AI improvements, balance changes, optimization improvements, and much more. The studio then released another patch on the same day, with Update 1.1.1 fixing some issues that caused PC users to crash when launching the game after Update 1.1.

Following these two updates, GSC Game World has released another patch update for STALKER 2. According to the official patch notes, which can be found further down in this article, Update 1.1.2 addresses some of the game's most recent issues reported by the community. Some users reported that shader compilation was freezing, resulting in an infinite wait time or a crash. Thankfully, this issue has now been fixed, as have issues that caused some to crash when exiting the game and others to be unable to load save files.

Also included in the latest update is a huge new feature for STALKER 2 players that allow users to back up their save files and prevent data loss. In the official patch notes, GSC Game World states that save files will be automatically archived and will last 4 days before being deleted. Unfortunately, it appears that this new feature is only available on PC, and there's no word on whether or not Xbox Series X/S owners will be able to save backups in the future.

All these huge updates and improvements in the last few days will surely please the fans, especially considering STALKER 2 had a myriad of launch issues with a variety of bugs and glitches. Even though it took several patches to bring the game to a better state, the situation doesn't seem to have stopped STALKER 2 from being a huge success for GSC Game World. The highly anticipated sequel has already made a profit for the studio, just a month after its release. GSC Game World had already announced it STALKER 2 it had sold over 1 million copies in just 48 hours.
