This is the most frequent event that takes place in Pokemon Go, providing users with a Spotlight Hour each week, showcasing a different Pokemon with each one. This guide will be updated weekly to ensure you are up-to-date with the latest information on making the most of Pokemon Go Spotlight Hours.

Updated September 24, 2023, by Christian Pellegrino: The final Pokemon Go Spotlight Hour Event for the month of September will feature Growlithe, the Fire-type Pokemon introduced in Pokemon’s first generation. Below is everything you need to know about Growlithe’s Spotlight Hour, from event information to the best preparation strategies.

Spotlight Hour Date And Time

The upcoming Spotlight Hour will take place on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, from 6AM to 7PM local time. This is a relatively short window of time, so make sure that you are prepared and logging in punctually to take advantage of the bonuses being offered.

Spotlight Hour Pokemon

This week’s Spotlight Hour will showcase Growlithe, the Puppy Pokemon. This Fire-type Pokemon has one evolution: Arcanine. Evolving Growlithe into Arcanine will require 50 Growlithe Candies, obtained by catching or transferring either Growlithe or Arcanine.

Make sure to take advantage of this Spotlight Hour’s increased Growlithe spawn rate to encounter and catch this Pokemon several times, earning you tons of Growlithe Candy.

Also, as with any Spotlight Hour, this is a great chance to catch a Growlithe with high in-game stats. Although this Pokemon’s stats are still random when caught, the sheer number of Growlithe encounters will give you a greater opportunity to catch one with desirable stats.

Spotlight Hour Bonuses

A specific bonus will accompany each Spotlight Hour throughout its duration. For this Spotlight Hour, you will receive two times the Stardust for catching any Pokemon.

With the massive increase in Growlithe spawns during this event window, this is a great opportunity to catch several of these Pokemon, providing you with tons of Stardust, a valuable resource used to evolve and power up different Pokemon.

To maximize this double catch Stardust bonus, it is best if you are in an area populated with plenty of PokeStops. This will not only increase the amount of Growlithe that you encounter, but it will also allow you to constantly obtain Poke Balls and other resources.

Spotlight Hour Spawn Rates And Shiny Rates

The main bonus of this Spotlight Hour will be Growlithe’s massively increased spawn rate during this event. The spawn rate of Growlithe can be increased further by using both PokeStop Lures and Incense.

After using an Incense, do your best to move around and travel distance.

This will increase the overall effectiveness of the Incense, providing you with even more Growlithe encounters.

Fortunately, you will have the chance to encounter Growlithe’s Shiny variation during this Spotlight Hour Event. Using these two items will help increase the odds of encountering and catching this unique Growlithe variant.

Like Community Day Events, the increased spawn rate will give you better odds of finding and catching this Shiny Pokemon, so make sure that you prepare accordingly when it comes to your items and specific locations.

That being said, Growlithe’s Shiny rates will not be boosted for this Spotlight Hour. This means that encountering a Shiny Growlithe will still be rare and hard to come by.

How To Prepare For Spotlight Hours

With such a short window, ensuring that you are prepared for this event before its commencement is important. With the massive increase in the featured Pokemon’s spawn rate, make sure you are stocked up on Poke Balls.

You will also want to ensure that you have sufficient Pokemon Storage before this event begins. This will allow you to rapidly catch the featured Pokemon without worrying about transferring others to make space.

You can also increase your Pokemon Storage by 50 by purchasing a Pokemon Storage Upgrade at the in-game shop for 200 PokeCoins.

With the bonus of this Spotlight Hour being double Stardust for catching any Pokemon, stocking up on Poke Balls and having sufficient storage is especially important.

Additionally, use the Star Piece item at the start of this Spotlight Hour if possible. This item provides you with 1.5 times the Stardust for 30 minutes, stacking on top of the double catch Stardust bonus for this event.

Lastly, with Growlithe being a Fire-type Pokemon, Mega Evolve a Pokemon that is a Fire-type during this Spotlight Hour if possible.

This will further increase the number of Candies earned when catching Growlithe throughout this event. Additionally, this will increase the chances of obtaining Growlithe Candy XL, a resource required to power-up Growlithe and Arcanine to their maximum level.

The higher the Mega Evolution’s Mega Level is, the more effective this added Candy bonus will be.
