Spider-Man 2 Lets You Recreate One Of The Best Spidey Memes

If you’ve been keeping an eye on the development of Spider-Man 2 over the course of the past year, you’ll know that Peter Parker can randomly find Miles Morales whilst swinging through New York, and vice versa. Playing as either Spider-Man, you’ll be able to help the other one out if you find them wailing on some bad guys, and you’ll be treated with a unique bit of dialogue or interaction between the two Spider-Men for your effort.

Insomniac is also no stranger to putting a cheeky joke or meme in their games, and the developer has used the opportunity of two Spider-Men appearing in the same location at the same time to reference one of the best Spider-Man memes and recurring jokes. You may have already figured it out thanks to our lovely featured image, but yes, Spider-Man 2 allows you to recreate the famous pointing meme you’ll have no doubt seen on social media.

We don’t quite know how you can activate it, as there’s only a single vague clip going around right now, but you can see it demonstrated in the tweet by Culture Crave down below. The scene seemingly takes place after the two just finsiehd a fight with some goons, and ends with Miles turning invisible and thwipping away after a hearty chuckle over their tomfoolery.

Spider-Man 2 referencing the famous pointing meme isn’t all that surprising these days, especially when Tom Holland, Tobey Maguire, and Andrew Garfield did it as a promotional skit for Spider-Man: No Way Home. The joke was even done on a mass scale in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse earlier this year, which featured an almost limitless number of Spider-Mans pointing at each other in confusion.

This little nod to the joke between Miles and Peter feels pretty minor compared to those examples, but this is the first time we’ve been able to do it in a video game. It’s also nice to see Insomniac embracing the sillier side of having two Spider-Men in their game, even if the duo are busy taking down Sandman, Venom, Kraven, Lizard, and who knows who else.

It’s not long now before we get to see the game’s whole cast of villains though, as Spider-Man 2 launches in just a few days on October 20. It’s already being touted as one of the best superhero games that has ever been made, and our very own EIC Stacey Henley who gave out praise just as glowing in her review, which explains that the game builds on everything that was done well in the first two titles.
