Spider-Man 2 Has Finally Added The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Suit

Spider-Man 2 has finally added the suit that fans have been hounding Insomniac Games about for more than five years – Andrew Garfield’s suit from The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

Before Insomniac’s first Spider-Man game launched all the way back in 2018, the one suit that everybody wanted to see was Tobey Maguire’s suit from the Sam Raimi films. Although the suit was initially missing from the game at launch, it was eventually added as part of a free update in December, turning every Spider-Man fan’s attention to the next most-requested suit.

That suit is, of course, Andrew Garfield’s outfit from The Amazing Spider-Man 2, which, despite being from arguably the most-hated Spidey film ever (well, apart from Lotus), is generally regarded as one of the best on-screen Spider-Man outfits of all time. That reputation has also made it one of the most-requested suits for Spider-Man 2 as, although the first game eventually included the Amazing Spider-Man 1 suit, the sequel’s outfit was missing in action.

Thankfully, it appears that Insomniac Games was aware of the assignment as The Amazing Spider-Man 2 suit is one of the new costumes that Peter can wear in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. In fact, it’s one of the sequel’s earlier costumes and can be unlocked pretty early on in the game simply by reaching a certain level.

There is one small caveat to the costume, however. Unlike most of the other suits in the game, the Amazing Spider-Man 2 suit doesn’t have any alternate colours that can be equipped. You can only go around in Spider-Man’s traditional colour scheme, which makes sense considering it’s not an original suit by Insomniac and doesn’t really have any notable variations. Shame we can’t slap a fireman hat on it, though.

Still, even with that small addendum, Spider-Man fans can rest easy knowing that Insomniac heard all of our cries for Andrew Garfield’s second suit to be added to the game. Now the real challenge is being given a reason to use any other suit in the game, ever.

Although The Amazing Spider-Man 2 suit is by far the most exciting movie costume that’s been added to Spider-Man 2, it’s not the only one. As confirmed in the open-world trailer for the game that was shared during the most recent State of Play, Tobey Maguire’s symbiote suit from Spider-Man 3 can also be unlocked and worn in-game. Thankfully, despite speculation that the symbiote suit was customisable, Maguire’s suit can be worn separately from the symbiote powers and appears as just another outfit that can be used whenever the player likes.
