PS5 sales appear to be unaffected by Sony's PC porting efforts
Sony's outlook is in line with the company's recent performance in the hardware space. The minimal difference between the two consoles' sales counts can be more easily explained by the pandemic-induced PS5 shortage rather than the lack of permanent console exclusives. It is expected that the PlayStation maker will not only continue its push for the PC port, but may also do so with greater intensity. In 2024, Sony president Hiroki Totoki stated that the company intends to become even more “aggressive” with the PlayStation PC port, meaning it would narrow the gap between the PS5 and Steam versions. Marvel's Spider-Man 2 reflects this strategic shift, being slated to arrive on PC on January 30, just 15 months after its original launch.
