Nine Sol: Should you forcibly remove the chip?
While the choice between paying for copies of map chips and forcibly removing them does not have a significant impact on the game's story, it does affect the results that players can obtain. More specifically, Metroidvania fans who forcefully remove a chip will immediately earn the Bastard… resultbut they will not be able to earn the Reproduced results. In fact, players can only earn Repurposed if they pay for copies of every data chip in the map and don't forcibly remove any of them.
This means that you cannot get all the results in Nine Sol during a single match, as it is, of course, impossible to forcefully remove a chip for the You Bastard… achievement and not forcibly remove any chip for the Repurposed achievement. Luckily for achievement hunters, it's possible to pursue both options without completing two full matches, and here's one way to do it:
- Pay for copies of each map data chip during a first playthroughand get the Repurposed achievement.
- A second game beginsand forcibly remove the chip from the nearby Shanhai 9000 Nine Sol' first boss. This action will award the You Bastard… achievement and players should be able to reach the robot in under two hours.
Alternatively, Soulslike fans on their first few playthroughs could advance to Shanhai 9000 near the Radiant Pagoda, forcibly remove the map data chip for the You Bastard… achievement, and then restart the game with the intention of paying for each chip. While this approach may be less appealing than the one outlined above, as it requires consecutive replays of the game's opening times, it is still worth considering.
