Seinfeld heckled at Sydney show

Jerry Seinfeld responded bluntly to a pro-Palestinian supporter during his Australian show on Sunday night.

A 70-year-old Jewish comedian was disturbed on stage when a heckler shouted calls for the liberation of Palestine during his second stand-up performance at Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena.

“We have a genius, ladies and gentlemen. He dissolved the Middle East. He solved the problem,” the comedian joked to the audience.

“These are Jewish comedians, that’s who we need to get. They are the ones who do everything.”

Still yelling, Seinfeld sarcastically told the activist to continue.

“They’re going to start beating you in three seconds, so I’d try to get all your genius out of you so we can all learn from you.

– It’s a sitcom, idiot. Get out of here.”

The fan was thrown out of the concert by security. As he was led out of the arena, the activist shouted, “Palestine will be free.”

Seinfeld continued his speech, escorted by a lawyer, saying, “Imagine if this guy actually resolved the conflict.

“You really have an impact on everyone here. We are all on your side now because you presented your position so well and in the right place. You’ve come to the right place for political talks.

“Tomorrow we will read in the newspaper: Middle East 100 percent solved thanks to the man from Qudos Arena stopping a Jewish comedian.

“They stopped him and everyone in the Middle East said, ‘Oh my God, let’s just get on with it. We can not do this”.

“I know there are problems here [Australia] with indigenous, aboriginal and white people [people].

“Maybe to solve this problem I’ll screw up Jim Jefferies during a show in New York. If it works, it works.

“To screw up a comedian, you have to travel 20,000 miles from the problem. This is how the world’s problems are solved.”

At the end of his performance, Seinfeld apologized to the audience for the confusion.

This isn’t the first time a Seinfeld show has been disrupted by a pro-Palestinian protester.

Seinfeld was performing in the US state of Virginia when a pro-Palestinian protester stood up and shouted insults, calling him a “supporter of genocide”.

“Save the children of Gaza! No more US taxes for genocide!” – the protester shouted.

Seinfeld was heard commenting: “This is great fun. I like this. I think your message really resonated with the audience. It looks like people are on your side.

“How dare you support genocide!” – replied the protester.

“I like it when Jew haters spice up the show,” Seinfeld joked.

Additional video footage from the evening shows a bystander starting a fight with a protester, eventually grabbing him by the head. Security arrived and later escorted the protester out of the room.

The crowd chanted, “Jerry! Potty! Potty!” as the protester left.

Seinfeld also faced hecklers during his commencement speech at Duke University last month.

Photos from the ceremony show several students shouting “Free Palestine” and dozens leaving as he is introduced.

Seinfeld has faced public backlash over his open support for Israel waging war in Gaza over the deadly October 7 attack.

Two days after the attack, he wrote on his Instagram account, “I am with Israel.”

“At the age of 16, I lived and worked on a kibbutz in Israel and since then I have loved our Jewish homeland,” he wrote in the caption.

“My heart breaks for these attacks and atrocities. But we are also very strong people in our hearts and minds.
