Saudi virtual court sees 110,000 requests in 2024

RIYADH: The Saudi Film Commission has officially joined the International Association of Film Commissioners, a global network of more than 360 film companies from over 40 countries, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

According to SPA, AFCI’s goal is to support, empower and connect film studios around the world, supporting the sustainable and integrated development of the international film industry. Through this membership, the Saudi Film Commission gains access to a range of services, including global connections with film authorities, insights into international best practices, special training and development programs, and the latest updates on industry developments.

Joining AFCI allows the Saudi Film Commission to elevate the Kingdom’s film industry and place Saudi cinema on the international stage. This membership also strengthens domestic production companies and local talent, facilitating the exchange of experience and knowledge with international counterparts.

AFCI, founded in 1975, is a global non-profit organization and a unique entity that brings together film crews from many countries on six continents. It aims to enable industry bodies and stakeholders to support economic growth in the film production sector.

The Association provides a comprehensive network that connects different resources, educational opportunities and funding from different countries, thus facilitating international co-productions. This comprehensive support benefits film authorities, production companies and film professionals.

According to the SPA, the Saudi Film Commission’s membership in the AFCI is a strategic step towards realizing its vision of establishing the Kingdom as a global center for the film industry. The move aims to strengthen the national economy and elevate the Saudi film industry in the local and international arena.
