Naruto and Sasuke have been neck and neck for the vast majority of the series, but there have been instances where one outperformed the other and then the other had to catch up. Something similar happened to Boruto recently, and it's all but confirmed that Sasuke Uchiha is now the stronger of the two and that he has finally surpassed Naruto for good.

Both are equal in adulthood
After the events of the Fourth Shinobi World War, it was easy for fans to see that Naruto Uzumaki had surpassed Sasuke and was much stronger. In fact, even during the war, Naruto's performance was much better, and everyone agreed that he was stronger. This was clear from the final battle between the two, in which Sasuke had to rely on the power of the tailed beasts to match Naruto's strength, yet still failed to win the battle. Furthermore, Naruto had been fighting in the war for much longer than Sasuke and yet he managed to put on a fantastic show against him and eventually matched him in battle. After the war, things became even more complicated as Sasuke lost a hand that had weakened him somewhat in combat, due to his disability.
I admit it. I lost – Sasuke Uchiha
Meanwhile, Naruto gained a new arm, but his increased power didn't just include another arm. In fact, he also obtained the other half of Kurama, which was sealed outside his body during the battle against Sasuke. Half Kurama is a great power boost for him, and it was clear for fans to see that he had now reached an even higher level of power. For Sasuke, this did not bode well as he was clearly no match for Naruto's power level. But a statement from the Boruto era basically confirms that both were equal in terms of power during this period. This means that during the void period, Sasuke trained his mind and body so hard that, even with his disability, he was able to definitively match the Seventh Hokage.
At the beginning of Boruto, Naruto and Sasuke are equal in strength and this is confirmed by the author himself. But the same can't be said for the story moving forward. There have been ups and downs in terms of power levels, especially in Sasuke's case, and this is extremely evident in the big battle against Isshiki.
Baryon Mode and what it meant for Sasuke
Naruto getting Baryon Mode gave him a new high
Even though Naruto and Sasuke started the Boruto series on equal terms, which Kishimoto himself confirmed, this parity was not maintained until the end. In the battle against Jigen, both Naruto and Sasuke were humiliated, and while Naruto Uzumaki was sealed away, Sasuke successfully survived. Thanks to Team 7, Naruto was successfully rescued, and subsequently, a battle against Isshiki Otsutsuki was triggered by none other than Koji. This was an incredibly exciting fight, in which both Naruto and Sasuke were overwhelmed from the start. Isshiki's powers proved too great for either of them to face, at least until Naruto tapped into the power of Baryon Mode. Once Naruto used Baryon Mode, it was virtually impossible for Isshiki to do anything against him.
Come, Otsutsuki! I'll show you what true resolve means. – NarutoUzumaki
Naruto was far better than him, as confirmed by Sasuke himself, and this also meant that even Sasuke was now far inferior to the Seventh Hokage. This battle ended with Naruto's superiority and Kawaki essentially dealing the final blow to Isshiki. However, for Naruto, this was a huge loss, because it meant that he now completely lost access to Kurama. Meanwhile, Sasuke lost his Rinnegan, and both were now without their greatest upgrades.

Isshiki is the strongest Otsutsuki after Shibai. There is a character in Boruto who is even stronger than him.
At this point it can be argued that both Naruto and Sasuke were somewhat the same. However, Sasuke still had a large advantage over Naruto, as he still had access to one of his Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan. This essentially meant that he could still use the powers of Amaterasu, Flame Control, Genjutsu, and even his full-body Susanoo. Meanwhile, Naruto only had access to his Sage Mode, which was clearly no match for the Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan.
It can be said that, in many ways, Sasuke was stronger than Naruto after the loss of Kurama. But the difference in strength was not that great. If anything, at this point, the story writers would still have found a way to make Naruto as strong as Sasuke. But what came next essentially confirmed that Sasuke Uchiha had managed to finally surpass Naruto Uzumaki and that the Seventh Hokage would have to join him, provided he managed to leave the Daikokuten dimension afterward.
How Sasuke surpassed Naruto Uzumaki
Sasuke and Boruto trained harder
Sasuke Uchiha has officially surpassed Naruto Uzumaki in Two blue swirls era of the series. In Boruto: Two Blue Vorticesit was confirmed to fans that Sasuke had become stronger. Once Omnipotence struck, Sasuke and Boruto fled Konoha together and their goal was to train to become stronger. Previously, fans believed that Sasuke only trained Boruto and that all this was for the good of Boruto Uzumaki. However, the latest databook basically confirms that both Boruto and Sasuke trained together and became strong during this time period. In fact, Sasuke likely increased his strength level significantly during this period, proof of this coming during his fight against Code.
Fans should remember that after removing his limiters, Code should be as strong as, if not stronger than, Jigen. Jigen was able to handle both Naruto and Sasuke together at the same time, and it was then that these individuals gained their strongest powers. Naruto still had access to Kurama and Sasuke still had access to the Rinnegan. Despite this, they couldn't even make a dent in Jigen. However, during the Two Blue Vortex timeskip, Sasuke was able to put up a fabulous fight against Tails and take one of his eyes away from him, despite the latter having the advantage of multiple Claw Grimes.
Ultimately, Sasuke sacrificed himself to preserve Boruto Uzumaki and was defeated by the Claw Grimes. But the fact is that he managed to put Tails in a corner, while in the battle against Jigen he didn't even manage to make a dent in him. Clearly, the indication here is that Sasuke has grown significantly in strength during the time skip. Right now, he is much stronger than Naruto Uzumaki, which means that if the Seventh Hokage returns to the series, he will have to train incredibly hard and get stronger.
Boruto is available to read via Viz Media. The series can be read by fans officially and for free on Shonen Jump and on the Manga Plus app. The release date for the next chapter of Boruto, Boruto: Two Blue Vortex chapter 18, is scheduled for January 20, 2025.
