Sandra Sully announces death of her father Sid

Australian newsreader Sandra Sully has announced some sad personal news on social media – the death of her father, Sid.

Veteran Ten newsreader Sully, 58, made the announcement on Twitter overnight, calling her beloved father “the BEST man I ever knew.”

“There is no greater loss than losing a parent. My heart is broken. We all loved him soooo much,” she wrote in a follow-up tweet.

She also revealed her father had passed away last Friday, calling it the “hardest day of my life.”

Sully’s Network Ten colleague offered her condolences under her post, writing: “Oh Sandra. I’m so sorry for the loss of your precious Dad. Sending all my love.”

Sully revealed in an interview with New Idea last year that her father had been battling health issues in recent times.

“I am extremely private but my parents (Sydney and Carol Sully) are getting older and my dad has had some health issues,” she told the outlet, explaining her decision to appear on the SBS genealogy program Who Do you Think You Are?

“There came a point where I had to stop thinking about myself and realise this was about them ‒ and what a wonderful gift this was to give them,” she continued.

Sid Sully is survived by his wife Carol, twin daughters Sandra and Lyn, and sons Brad and Chris.
