Atlus has released numerous acclaimed JRPGs so far in 2024, but surprisingly, one of the highest rated games released this year, Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeancetechnically it's not even a new game. Instead, it is an expanded edition of a role-playing game originally released in 2021. This game, simply titled Shin Megami Tensei Vwas released exclusively on the Nintendo Switch and garnered mostly positive reception, though was considered a disappointment by some. His Vendetta the re-release, however, brings with it numerous new additions to the base game, including a second campaign. These changes are as significant as it seems Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance offers a completely new experience compared to its predecessor.
Currently, SMT V: Vengeance it is available not only on Nintendo Switch, but also on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and Windows PC. This isn't the first game from Atlus' back catalogue, expanded or otherwise, to receive a fully multiplatform release. Some of the Japanese developer's classic RPGs, such as Persona 3 portable AND Persona 4 Goldenhave been ported to all current generation systems in 2023. While it's nice that these legacy titles are now available on various platforms, Atlus should repeat what they did with Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance and brings some of its modern games to more devices.

Catherine: Full Body is Trapped on PS4 and Switch
Atlus has embraced a multiplatform strategy as of late, but there are still some recent games from the company that aren't available on all systems. 2019 Catherine: whole bodyfor example, it's not playable on Xbox or PC, as it's sadly trapped on PS4 and Nintendo Switch. There's a complication here, though. This title is a SMT V: Vengeancestyle re-release of a 2011 puzzle game called Catherine. While the original iteration of the game, retroactively named Caterina Classicois available on modern Xbox consoles and Windows PCs, it's improved Whole body the edition is not. Catherine: whole body contains a lot of new content that isn't present in the base game, so it's a shame that it isn't accessible on more devices.
13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim is not available on Xbox or PC
The same can be said for 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim. As Catherine: whole bodyThis RTS game published by Atlus was released in 2019 and is currently only available on PS4 and Switch. The study he did 13 Sentinels: Aegis Riman independent company called Vanillaware, has historically been very selective with the systems it releases its games on, often opting for PlayStation exclusivity instead of daily multiplatform launches. That said, his most recent game, 2024 Overlord of the Unicornsdebuted simultaneously on PlayStation, Xbox and Switch, a first for the company. Taking this into account, it is possible that Atlus will make a port 13 sentries one day also on other devices (at least Xbox).
Persona 5 Strikers, SMT 3, and Persona 4 Arena Ultimax are not on modern Xbox consoles
The hack-and-slash of 2021 Persona 5 Attackers2020 Shin Megami Tensei 3 HD Remaster is the fighting game of 2013 Persona 4Arena Ultimax – which received a re-release in 2022 – are three Atlus titles that also need porting to Xbox. When it comes to modern platforms, these games are only available on PlayStation, Switch, and PC. The lack of an Xbox One or Xbox Series Persona 4Arena Ultimax is especially disappointing, given that the game was originally released on the Xbox 360 at the time and its predecessor, Persona 4 ArenaIt is backwards compatible on modern Xbox devices.
Soul Hackers 2 isn't on Switch, while Etrian Odyssey Origins Collection isn't on PS5 or Xbox
While Atlus has mostly overlooked Xbox and PC with some of its modern releases, it has also skipped over PlayStation and Nintendo. Soul Hacker 2for example, it launched on everything but the Switch in 2022, despite not looking too graphically demanding for Nintendo's hybrid system. Then there is Etrian Odyssey Origins Collectionreleased exclusively on Nintendo Switch and Windows in June 2023. It's the only Atlus game in the last two years not to have released on all current-gen consoles, so it would be great to see the compilation on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series day.
Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance consists of two complete story paths: Experience an entirely new path, the “Vengeance Canon” – a dramatic story of revenge by the fallen, centered on new characters and an enigmatic cohort of demons, the Qadištu, who plot their own dark designs apart from the war of those who fight to maintain order and those who seek to challenge it. Or explore the original story told in Shin Megami Tensei V, the “Canon of Creation”: an eternal conflict between angels and demons, in which the protagonist fights for the fate of the world.
When a grisly murder scene in modern-day Tokyo blocks our protagonist's path home, an unplanned detour leaves him buried and unconscious. He awakens in a new Tokyo, an apocalypse-ravaged wasteland now called Da'at… but before bloodthirsty demons can claim his life, a savior emerges, and the two unite to become one powerful being, nor human nor demon: a Nahobino. .
With his newfound power, the protagonist ventures through Da'at, an enigmatic realm filled with mythical deities and demonic tyrants in constant conflict for survival. Searching for answers, the protagonist must forge his own path in a battle between angels and demons to dictate the fate of the world.
