Pokemon TCG Trick-or-Trade boosters grant Halloween-themed cards
Starting with the 2022 Halloween season, Pokemon TCG has launched a special edition series of mini packs called “Trick-or-Trade”, each pack containing Halloween-themed illustrations or reprints of popular cards with spooky motifs. The series was originally designed to replace Halloween candy and quickly became a popular limited-time event Pokémon fans. Each Trick-or-Trade bag generally includes dark-themed or Ghost-type Pokemon and, like Halloween candy, is marketed in a large bag, allowing for easy distribution to trick-or-treaters.
The first Trick or Trade event in 2022 featured reprints of spooky cards like Gastly, Haunter, and Gengar, along with some non-themed cards like Pikachu and Cubone. Other cards such as Mewtwo, Spinarak, and Ariados were also available, as well as Dusknoir and Darkrai. The event continued in 2023 with many of the same cards, then reprinted again. However, several new cards were added that year, and many were also left out. Mewtwo was a card left out for the 2023 edition, but other cards like Runerigus and Lycanroc have been added. Of course, Gastly, Haunter, and Gengar are also back, and each card in the set included a special Pikachu pumpkin next to the card's art.
The event continued in 2024 with reprints of Pokémon cards from previous Trick-or-Trade editions, including Pikachu and Mimkyu. Additionally, for the first time, several cards from the Trick-or-Trade set are printed on holographic cosmo paper. These include Sinistcha, Teal Mask Ogerpon, Pikachu, Mimikyu, Munkidori, Fezandipiti, Flutter Mane, Okidogi, Gengar, and Darkrai. It goes without saying that it is almost always an exciting event for fans of the Pokemon trading card gameas its time-limited nature makes obtaining each card even more tempting.
The Pokemon TCG Pocket launch date is the perfect reason to include Trick-or-Trade boosters
With Pokémon TCG Pocket with launching on October 30th, just a day before Halloween, and guaranteeing players two free packs per day, it's probably sitting on a gold mine when it comes to Trick-or-Trade packs. It would be remiss not to feature a special event that allows players to open packs from the Trick-or-Trade series, as it would be a great way to tie the mobile game into the tabletop game even more. to connect with players celebrating the Halloween season, as well as give them special cards to remember the game's launch.
At the very least, though Pokémon TCG Pocket had not faithfully followed the Trick or Trade series, it would have missed an excellent opportunity by not offering players the opportunity to acquire Halloween-themed reprints of Pokémon cards for a limited time after the game launches. At the moment there is no information on whether Pokémon TCG Pocket will feature such an event, but that doesn't mean it's completely out of the question.
