The future of Pokemon Scarlet and Purple in 2025 remains uncertain with the upcoming Year of the Snake.
Pokemon Scarlet and Purple trainers have a new event to participate in, as a mass outbreak with Silicobra, Ekans, and Seviper has begun in observance of the Year of the Snake. The Snakelike Mass Outbreak event will last Pokemon Scarlet and Purple for one weekend only, but trainers will be more likely to encounter Shiny versions of each featured Pokemon.
The latest mass epidemic event began a few days later Pokemon Scarlet and Purple hosted a Shiny Rayquaza Tera raid event to close out 2024. While Sky High Pokemon can usually be found in Pokemon Scarlet and Purple after purchasing the Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC and making progress in The Indigo Disk, the rarity of the Shiny variant made the Tera raid battle a valid opportunity to easily capture it. While Rayquaza's weakness to Fairy Pokémon makes the Tera raid an easy encounter, the Shiny Rayquaza event was a perfect bookend to the Year of the Dragon in Pokemon Scarlet and Purple.
