Reddit user frightwithperils shared an image of their child wearing the adorable Mimikyu Halloween costume. The costume looks perfect and does a great job of recreating Pikachu's iconic disguise under which Mimikyu hides his true form. According to the parent, their daughter loves Mimikyu and specifically wanted to dress like this for the holidays. In all, creating the costume took about four hours, with parent and child making it together.
How Mimikyu's Halloween costume was made
According to the parent, the costume started with two identical sweatshirts. One was mostly kept as-is, with some cuts made to create the jagged, torn look that Pikachu's disguise inherently has. Full of Danger made the ears and sleeves from pieces of the extra hoodie, while the tail was made from a repurposed wooden pillow. The Mimikyu's face was made from wool and sewn onto the top of the hoodie. The eyes were painted but needed redoing, as they ended up drying badly and made Mimikyu look creepy. The two tried again, drying it so the paint wouldn't run and adding sequins to create a sparkling effect.
As you might expect, Pokémon fans were extremely enthusiastic about the creation. Loaded with Danger and their daughter were praised for their effort and execution, and one even joked that they are also Loaded with Danger's son, so they too can get a cool Mimikyu costume. Draughtwithperils said that while their six-year-old did not appreciate the creepy drip-eye look that Mimikyu's costume initially had, the costume may undergo an intentionally creepy overhaul in the future giving him a distressed and worn look. . For now, though, the costume is a great recreation of the Pokemon design. Considering that Mimikyu just wants to find someone who appreciates him, he would probably be happy to know that there is such a big fan out there.
