Small stepsone of the most irreverent titles on Devolver Digital's roster of upcoming releases, has been delayed to launch in 2025 on PlayStation 5. Devolver Digital has released its tongue-in-cheek annual Delayed Awards, which announce game launches that have been delayed, and one of the most obscure but intriguing titles in the publisher's docket were included in the delayed release announcements.
Chances are, many know Devolver Digital from Miami Hotline video game franchise, along with other ready-to-use releases such as Magician with a gun, Enter the GungeonAND Cult of the Lamb. The studio had announced another intriguing title in June 2023, and it would appear that interested fans will have to wait a little longer for that game to make its way to players.

Created by a team of three people, including the infamous developer of Getting over the situation with Bennett Foddy, Small steps will see players take on the role of “an unemployed failure” as he finally ventures beyond the safety and comfort of his basement and explores the world by simply “putting one foot in front of the other.” The game is set up to feature intentionally cumbersome controls, similar to those of Get over it and other similar video games Ottodadwhich aim to provide fans with a challenging yet exhilarating gaming experience. While interested players were hoping to experience the title in 2024, they will have to wait for an updated release date from Devolver Digital in 2025.

According to the official Small steps game page on the Devolver Digital site, the title will feature a “fully simulated physics-based walk”, a dynamic soundtrack, a non-linear explorable environment, non-collectible hats, and an eyebrow-raising fully dynamic onesie cleaning system. ” The game's first gameplay trailer showcases a delightfully unserious protagonist and gameplay that rivals that of other irreverent titles beloved by fans of hilarious casual sim games.
