Official Pokemon Donuts revealed, but there's a problem

Key points

  • Pokemon and Mister Donut in Japan are offering Pikachu, Diglett and Pokeball-themed donuts starting at $1.44.
  • Collaborations between Pokemon and donut chains happen every year, but the official donuts aren't available in the United States.
  • Fans made Pokemon-themed donuts. While American fans remain hopeful, the latest collaboration in Japan is underway.

Pokémon is teaming up with a donut shop to create new donuts, but they're only available in Japan. It is the latest collaboration between Pokémon and Mister Donut, a popular Japanese donut chain.

Official Pokémon donuts have been introduced as limited collaborations almost every year, with series favorites like Pikachu, Psyduck, and Jigglypuff receiving the donut treatment over the years. Rumors tend to vary, though as the series' mascot, Pikachu is almost always available when these collaborations are underway.

Pokemon Leaked Series Timeline Explained

Recently leaked information gives Pokemon fans a better understanding of the series' complex timeline, and there's a lot to talk about.

This year, Mister Donut e Pokémon have revealed the latest collaboration, introducing a pair of Pikachu-themed donuts, Diglett-themed donuts, and a Pokeball donut. According to Siliconera, the price of the strains ranges from approximately $1.44 to $2.12 USD. The Pikachu Donut is shaped like PIkachu's head, including ears, and is filled with whipped cream and covered in caramel custard-flavored chocolate. The Diglett donut looks like a round mochi donut, is covered in crunchy chocolate and custard and features a cute Diglett poking out of the center which is a caramel cream puff.

On the simpler side, a Poke Ball donut is available, which looks like a standard round donut with a hole in the middle. It's covered in white chocolate and strawberry sugar to recreate the look of the iconic red and white Poke Ball. Finally, there are a couple of donuts based more loosely on Pikachu and Diglett, which are essentially yellow and brown donuts filled with custard and whipped cream. Pikachu's is custard flavored, while Diglett's is caramel flavored. The event with these donuts will start on November 6th. The event doesn't specify when it will end, but based on the holiday-themed ads, they'll likely be available until at least December.

Pokemon Donut collaborations are common, but not in the West

Mister Donut isn't the only donut chain to offer Pokémon donuts in the past. Krispy Kreme has also had collaborations with Pokémon before, but strangely, despite being an American company, they were not available in the United States. This is probably disappointing for fans of the series, but as the years have gone by, there has been no move to bring them to the United States.

While Pokémon fans are out of luck in the United States for the official ones, fans have created Pokémon donuts to the past to celebrate the iconic game series and its pocket monsters. While some hope a collaboration like this comes to the West, creating your own might be the best option for now.
