- The increase in movement speed when using Glide has been reduced for non-Summoners in World of Warcraft.
- Tail Slam is now a Summoner-only ability.
- Wing Buffet now has a three minute cooldown that can be reduced by Summoner talents.
In a recent update on World of Warcraft Public Test Realm, the movement speed increase for using Glide while playing non-Summoner Dracthyr has been reduced. This nerf was made before the Dracthyr class expansion arrived World of Warcraft Patch 11.0.5.
World of Warcraft recently confirmed that Dracthyr will finally have access to many more classes in patch 11.0.5. After nearly two years of being stuck with just the Summoner class, Dracthyr entered Oh soon it will be possible to play Priests, Hunters, Wizards, Thieves, Sorcerers or Warriors.
However, many of their racial abilities have been changed to compensate for this change, and the most recent nerf was one of the most significant. Winged Dracthyr have the ability to Glide by double-tapping the jump button, allowing them to slow their fall while slightly increasing their movement speed. According to the patch notes for a recent build of the 11.0.5 PTR patch, this movement speed increase has been reduced for non-Summoner Dracthyr, nerfing the mobility ability for other available classes.
Dracthyr racial nerfs in WoW: The War Within
- The increase in movement speed when using Glide is reduced for non-Summoners.
- Tail Slam is now a Summoner-only ability.
- Wing Buffet now has a three minute cooldown that can be reduced by Summoner talents.
This wasn't the first Nerf Dracthyr racial ability received by non-Summoners. When World of Warcraft when the class expansion was first announced, it increased the cooldowns of Tail Swipe and Wing Buffet – two powerful crowd control abilities – to three minutes, with Summoner talents available to bring them back to their current levels. However, a later PTR build removed Tail Swipe from their racial abilities entirely, instead making it an ability reserved for Summoners only.
From a balance perspective, this nerf makes sense. Giving priests, sorcerers, and other classes a combat speed boost with no cooldown is extremely powerful and would threaten to make Dracthyr the must-have race for everyone. World of Warcraft lessons they could do. Gliding is already indispensable in both PvP and PvE, so letting non-Summoners take advantage of its speed boost would change the meta significantly.
On the other hand, gliding is one of the most fun parts of the Dracthyr run, and fans are shocked by it World of Warcraft it's making it less by limiting the speed gain. Dracthyr's racial skill set will hopefully not receive any further nerfs before the patch releases, presumably on October 22nd along with the calendar start date of Ohthe 20th anniversary event of on the PTR.
