Filming on Fallout season 2 is underway, and judging by the season 1 finale, it will be heavily inspired by Fallout: New Vegas. Now, director and producer Jonathan Nolan has confirmed it, announcing the launch of the game – and its fans – at The Game Awards.
“I want to thank the fans of Fallout: New Vegas for not burning my house to the ground,” he joked, accepting the award for Best Adaptation for Fallout's first season. “You'll be glad you didn't.”

Fans, understandably, were quick to interpret this as definitive confirmation that season 2 will focus on New Vegas as its setting. Considering how beloved the game is, feelings in the community are all over the map. Some are excited, others are terrified. Others are speculating As the game will also be adapted, raising the question of whether the show will choose a canonical ending.

The answers are varied, to put it mildly. Some are already adamant that Season 2 will be great, responding well to Nolan's reference to New Vegas. Others are trying to figure out what it all means and how it will handle returning to a setting that can have very different outcomes based on player choices.
Many seem eager for Mr. House's ending to become canon, which would make sense, given that we saw the character in the first season. However, some feel that Yes Man (or an independent Las Vegas) is more appropriate, both because this allows for most factions to appear, and because of the sheer absurdity it entails.
At the moment, no factions have been confirmed. However, images of an alleged set found by a fan show graffiti from the Great Khan, suggesting they may play a role.
