Mauritanian president calls on West African states to ally against jihadism

ATAR, Mauritania: In an interview with AFP ahead of the presidential elections, Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani called on West African countries to unite in the face of jihadism. “The region must create common political will to fight insecurity,” Ghazouani said on Friday during the campaign for the June 29 elections. “I am not among those who think today that countries can face a crisis, a threat such as terrorism individually.”
