Marvel's Spider-Man 2 players are still waiting for the DLC costumes

Key points

  • Spider-Man 2 fans are wondering where exactly the “Fly N' Fresh” costumes are now that it's been several months since their release.
  • The dresses, created in collaboration with a nonprofit organization, retailed for $4.99, with plans to make them free at a later date.
  • Spider-Man 2 fans were already “losing hope” over the prospect of future DLC, and this is just the latest.

In just a few weeks, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 will celebrate its one-year anniversary since launching on PS5. And while anniversaries of any kind are a joyous occasion, Spider-Man 2 fans experience a whole range of emotions, most of them not positive.

Already, The Gamer reported how Spidey fans weren't entirely happy with the lack of DLC news or information about the standalone Venom title that leaked during last week's State of Play presentation. Those fans said they were “losing hope” for future Spider-Man content.

Fast forward to today and fans are wondering what happened to the March DLC costumes that were supposed to be made free at a later date.

When will everyone be able to appear Fly N' Fresh?

Originally revealed in March, Insomniac Games has launched a pack of two costumes on the PlayStation Store dubbed the “Fly N' Fresh” costume set. The two suits, one for Peter and one each for Miles, gave the Spideys a distinctive look, complete with neon purple pants and green accents.

The suits, designed in collaboration with Gameheads, a nonprofit dedicated to helping low-income people and people of color who aspire to be part of the video game industry, also came with extra stickers and frames for the mode photo. It retailed for $4.99, and PlayStation donated the profits to the group, with all players receiving the package for free at a later date.

It was March and we're a couple dozen hours away from October, which means it's been a while. “They said they would be available for free after some time had passed, and the deadline for giving money to charity has already passed,” one user wrote. “Now, if you buy it, your money will simply go to Sony.”

Other users were much more pessimistic, with many saying they didn't want the seeds, but rather the actual game content. “I consider this game 'dead' at this point,” one user said in response. “There is no DLC, no new updates, no new costumes coming, so I won't have hope and energy for that.”

Perhaps Insomniac will have news around the actual one-year anniversary (October 20), although given the massive data breach the studio suffered, it's perfectly justified that there isn't. However, it's a little worrying for what is one of Sony's core franchises.
