The Marvel Rivals team knew exactly what they were doing when they released the two-minute trailer for their upcoming winter celebration, Joyful Jubilation.
The trailer features everything you need to know about the new event, including information on its new Splatoon-style 4v4 mode centered around Jeff the Land Shark. But, after almost exactly one minute, the video turns into a thirst trap.
Moving on to the buff, ice white Venom, things get a little spicy. The trailer centers around the Spider-Man villain, right behind him, showing off what is an extremely cakey butt. Things get worse because at the exact moment he touches his backside, Venom says, “Time to feast.” Naturally the internet went wild over this.
Within minutes, social media was flooded with posts fawning over Eddie Brock's butt.
Dozens of tweets appeared in which players claimed that “the Marvel Rivals developers knew exactly what everyone wanted for Christmas,” and Reddit was no different.
On the Rivals subreddit, a post was created to discuss the game's new “Jeff's Winter Splash Festival” mode, but it was immediately hijacked by fans looking for a slice of poison.
The top comments focused on the word “cake”, with Venom buns being described as such multiple times throughout the conversation. “New update for Venom: now it's crustier than a bakery,” one said.
This isn't the first time Venom and its “listen to me” nature have been used to advertise a product, either. Ahead of the launch of Marvel's Spider-Man 2, the PlayStation UK Twitter account told players to “Give yourself 19 inches of Venom” when advertising the collector's edition of the game. Sex sells, folks.
