Marvel Rivals has been out for less than a week and there are already calls for big changes to some of the game's characters. Jeff the Land Shark's Ultimate is blowing players away, putting him under fire, and there's a feeling that Iron Fist needs a big nerf as the character is dominating matches. Doctor Strange's portals are also used to cause chaos, but appear to be less of a problem than the aforementioned heroes.

If you haven't been paying too much attention to the Marvel Rivals talk, you may have missed the fact that some characters will be receiving seasonal damage increases.
Indicated by a yellow icon above a character's image on the hero selection screen, some characters are subject to a 15% damage boost.
As pointed out on Reddit by user thisnotfor, characters including Spider-Man, Scarlet Witch, Iron Fist, and Rocket Racoon have all received a boost for the first season of Marvel Rival.
The seasonal boost system was met with confusion in a recent thread on the Rivals subreddit. DJKrakenz said, “So when the season ends, they get a little nervous? Strange system, in my opinion,” a valid point and a sentiment shared by many.
Spicedfiyah said, “I predict this mechanic will be removed sooner or later; it will make game balancing a complete nightmare for developers,” with Tato23 adding, “People might say 'My main is Wolverine, but he doesn't have a 15 % damage boost for this season… Gross, why would I play him?' It's about creating a negative connotation only for what exists and guiding players towards a meta of their choosing, rather than letting players dictate the meta.”
It's an interesting situation for Netease and the community will be keeping an eye on it to see how it plays out.
