Marvel Rivals Datamine reveals the design of the thing

Key points

  • Marvel Rivals leakers confirmed a while back that every member of the Fantastic Four will eventually make it into the game.

  • We've already seen leaks showcasing Mr Fantastic and the Human Torch, and now it's The Thing's turn.

  • Like the other members, Ben Grimm wears a blue, white and black costume.

Marvel Rivals dataminers have unearthed the first image of Fantastic Four member The Thing, confirming leaks that suggested he would end up on the roster and show off his design.

Even though Marvel Rivals just launched with a massive 33-character roster that puts most other hero shooters to shame (you know the ones I mean), its lineup is far from over. As a live-action game, more heroes and villains are expected to join, and considering how many Marvel characters haven't been included yet, the possibilities are endless.

The longer I play Marvel Rivals, the worse it gets

Marvel Rivals makes a great first impression, but the more time I spend with it, the more it starts to show its cracks.

That's exciting and all, but we actually already know a lot of the characters that will eventually come to Marvel Rivals. Dataminers found a huge roster of heroes during the game's beta, which has since been expanded with skins, moves, and more for a variety of characters. There is one family in particular that has received a lot of attention.

Don't worry, this will have big implications in Marvel Rivals

I'm obviously referring to the Fantastic Four. Marvel's First Family was included in the initial text datamine, but their designs have since been shared for two of the four members. Johnny Storm, the Human Torch, was shown off first a few months ago, while Reed Richards, Mr Fantastic, showed off his surprisingly muscular side just a few days ago. Now it's Ben Grimm's turn.

On Twitter, RivalsLeaks shared the first-ever image of Marvel Rivals' version of The Thing, which was found in the game's files. The image itself doesn't show its finished 3D model, as it actually looks like a spray or piece of concept art. In any case, it gives us a good idea of how it will look.

Just like the other members of the Fantastic Four we've seen so far, the Thing's suit (or rather, shorts) will have a white, blue, and black color design instead of the typical blue and black we're all used to. Ben Grimm also has huge eyebrows, which should appeal to anyone who has good taste and prefers to have them.

If you're not a fan of black, white and blue, it's worth mentioning that Rivals will no doubt have tons of different skins for all members of the Fantastic Four.

While it's too early to tell, it appears that The Thing is a little less developed than Mr Fantastic and the Human Torch, as a 3D model for him hasn't yet been found. That said, we at least know for sure that three members of the Fantastic Four are on the way, with Sue Richards, the Invisible Woman, remaining conveniently under wraps for now.
