The Journey of Lockdown Zone: Level X
From web novel to anime
When Closed area: level X started in 2017, it was just a web novel published in a manga and light novel app called peep. The original story was written by Romy Oishi. That web novel was then adapted into a manga by meshe, published from July 2020 to March 2022. It also became a webtoon adapted by taskey STUDIO in the same year. Finally, Lockdown Zone: Level X was adapted into a light anime in 2024, airing from September 6 to October 12 on CBS television in Japan.
The manga is available in English from Denpa, who describes the plot as (via AniTrendz),
Ryoka is awakened by a barrage of text messages from her mother! Panicked and rushed, Mom is clearly concerned for Ryoka's safety, but isn't too keen on letting her daughter know why. His reasoning is that nothing could really adequately describe what is happening!
The world could end! And there might be a huge new lifeform on the roof of their apartment building!
By October 24, the peep app will release 20 full-color manga chapters for Lockdown Zone: Level X in Japanese, all of which will be available for free. It is likely that they will be translated in due course, possibly by Denpa, and then will also be available in English to keep fans happy until there is further news on the sequel.
