LEGO Horizon Adventures should inspire a feature for Horizon 3

The world of Horizon is filled with a diverse cast of characters from distinct tribes across the post-apocalyptic western United States. From the loyal but tenacious Oseram Vanguard member Erend to the intuitive and fearless Utaru Gravesinger Zo, Aloy has met and befriended several members of various tribes during her journey to save the world from catastrophe. Even inside LEGO Adventures on the horizonAloy is able to find and recruit friends to save the world from ancient man-made threats. However, there is one element to LEGO Adventures on the horizon so Guerrilla Games should consider replacing it Horizon 3: Playable companions.

A comic retelling of Dawn of Horizon Zerothe events of, LEGO Adventures on the horizon players will be able to embody Aloy once again to defeat Helis and the Eclipse Cult and prevent the rogue AI HADES from reactivating ancient war machines to wipe out all life on the planet. Unlike Zero Dawn however, players do not have to undertake this journey completely alone, as Adventures it's the first Horizon game to introduce a form of multiplayer. Two players can play Adventures together through a local cooperative or online. While players will initially play as Aloy, they will have the option to play as Rost, Teersa, Varl, and Erend later in the game.

Unlike the main line Horizon games where Aloy can choose from a variety of weapons and playstyles from a weapon wheel, every character is present LEGO Adventures on the horizon uses his own unique weapon and can occasionally use limited gadgets and rare weapons. For example, Aloy's main weapon is a bow, but she can also use Blast Boots and an Arrow Storm Bow to defeat Eclipse cultists and menacing machines. Rost will also use a bow, while Teersa will use bombs, Varl will use spears, and Erend will use his trusty hammer. Some rare weapons can only be used by certain characters, such as Teersa's Duck Bomb and Erend's Earthquake Hammer.

The potential of playable companions in Horizon 3

Multiple Horizon games are currently in development following the release of LEGO Adventures on the horizon. On top of Horizon 3there is a suspected multiplayer, story-focused one Horizon spin-off and an NCSoft MMORPG Horizon spin-off in development. Both of these projects will reportedly include multiplayer with various types of playable characters of some kind, but it might be helpful for Guerrilla to introduce playable companions in Horizon 3 both in terms of gameplay and story. Recent trends on other popular PlayStation exclusive titles could support the prospect of alternate playable characters Horizon 3 AS God of war Ragnarök, Marvel's Spider-Man 2AND The Last of Us Part 2 remastered all feature sequences in which players temporarily play as secondary protagonists or, sometimes, antagonists.

In terms of story, having sequences or the general option to play other characters besides Aloy Horizon 3 could highlight some narrative aspects that neither of them Zero Dawn nor Forbidden Western Horizon they did it before. Playable companions could show more of Aloy's companions' inner thoughts and cultures, such as Kotallo's journey to get used to his new artificial arm, as well as trying to convince the Tenakth to help fight against Nemesis. Likewise, players could play as Beta as an alternative, more reserved literal version of Aloy. Being able to play Beta could better show her growth out of her shell and into the role of a more confident person who helps Aloy and her friends.

Potential companion gameplay in Horizon 3

Allowing players to play as some of Aloy's companions Horizon 3 could significantly expand the Horizon gameplay of the series. While Aloy has historically had a wise list of weapons at her disposal, there have been some limited to NPC use. For example, if players were able to embody Erend Horizon 3they could finally use his mighty hammer against both humans and hostile machines. Likewise, if players could play as Kotallo or a new companion, they could finally use some tribal spears or Tenakth swords. Guerrilla may also incorporate some of them LEGO Adventures on the horizon' more realistic or tangible weapons in Horizon 3 to further diversify the gameplay options of the other characters.
