Both games are classified as action-adventure titles, are aimed at a younger audience, are based on major franchises with pre-established characters and have the typical LEGO art style, which inserts an otherwise realistic world with toy bricks, creating a distinct sense of charm. But dig just one layer deeper, fans will find out LEGO Adventures on the horizon AND LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga they are actually two very different games.
LEGO Horizon Adventures seems to take a different approach to the usual LEGO formula
LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga was a bold evolution of the Traveller's Tales LEGO gameplay formula, taking the foundations that had been continually developed since 2005. LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga adapted all nine main lines Star Wars film, offering the same action, puzzle and platforming gameplay that fans have come to expect. These missions were accompanied by over 20 explorable planets, each of which was chock-full of side content.
LEGO Adventures on the horizonon the other hand, it's taking a slightly different approach to the usual LEGO gaming formula. While The Skywalker Saga has decided to do things big when it comes to missions, secondary content, collectibles and playable characters, LEGO Adventures on the horizon it seems to offer a much more concise experience. Instead of adapting nine feature films, LEGO Adventures on the horizon is telling the story of Dawn of Horizon Zerowith many of its original moments of charm thrown in for good measure. And while players will still be able to collect new outfits and structures for their hub world, LEGO Adventures on the horizon it probably won't have more than 1,000 collectibles to find in its levels.
While LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga set a new standard for licensed LEGO games with its broader scope, it was also criticized for having too much filler. LEGO Adventures on the horizon it may not offer more than 80 hours of content, but it could offer a more refined and concise experience that's a little easier for fans to digest.
