Jett Kenny’s new look ahead of starring role in Gladiators reboot

Jett Kenny has debuted a new look on social media, ahead of his appearance on the upcoming reboot of the 90s TV show Gladiators.

The Aussie model and ironman has been known to wear his long hair in a sleek man-bun, but due to his role in Channel Ten’s revival, Jett now appears to be sporting dreadlocks.

The 29-year-old shared a photo of his new hairstyle up close on Instagram just days after it was confirmed he would be taking on the role of Viking in the revamped entertainment game show scheduled to premiere in 2024.

Looking unlike his suave model self, Jett showed off his dreads in a mirror selfie with girlfriend Lily Brown, with fans speculating if he’s rocking the real deal or just clip-ons.

“So assuming that pigtail thing is a prop?” asked one follower, while another wondered: “Are they dreads Jett??!!???”

In the same post, Jett – who is the son of ironman champ Grant Kenny and former Olympian Lisa Curry – also shared photos of his heavy meals, suggesting he may be carb-loading while filming in Sydney this month.

Last week, it was confirmed 12 other Gladiators will join Jett on the reboot, including two-time Ninja Warrior Tatyanna Pogonza-Dumas as Comet, MMA fighter Chanique Greyling as Halo, and former NRL player Sandor Earl as Phoenix.

News of Gladiators return first made headlines in early September when it was announced retired NRL player Beau Ryan and netball great Liz Ellis would host the series.

“I am beyond excited to be hosting Gladiators alongside the great Liz Ellis. Liz is a national treasure, and we are going to have a lot of fun. I grew up watching and loving Gladiators and can’t wait to get into it. It’s going to be spectacular,” he added.

The original show, which was based off the popular US and UK formats, was hosted by actors Kimberley Joseph and Aaron Pedersen, with the later replaced by radio host Mike Hammond following the first season.

The show aired two seasons on Channel 7 in 1995 and was briefly revived in 2008.

The goal of the game show is for the Gladiators to battle it out against the Contenders in a series of gruelling challenges in front of an arena audience, such as Hang Tough, Duel, The Wall, Power Ball, Pyramid and The Eliminator – challenges which also featured in the original series.
