This time of year is great for picking up a bargain or two. Retailers will have stock left over from the holidays that they’ll want to get rid of, plus they’ll want people to keep spending even though this is a time of year when most people usually try to save their money. Finding the very best bargains can be tough though, and many will be gone before you even know they were there. Like Game of the Year winner It Takes Two going on sale for just $1.
Not half price, not $9.99, but a solitary dollar for the game the industry collectively decided was the best title released throughout all of 2021. Okay, maybe not everyone agree with that decision, but it was a fantastic game that won Game of the Year at The Game Awards and if you happened to be looking at its Amazon listing at the right time over the New Year period, you might have grabbed a copy for a buck.
Cheap Ass Gamer got wind of the heavily reduced game – which was presumably a mistake – just in time to capture evidence and share it with their followers. It was just the Nintendo Switch version of the game and its usual $54 price tag had been struck through and replaced with a $1 listing, a reduction of 98 percent. Some would have gotten the game for that little, but the sale didn’t last long, pretty much confirming the reduction was a mistake.
These things happen from time to time, of course. All it takes is a typo or misplaced decimal point and hey presto, something is listed for a price that it definitely should not be. It Takes Two’s 98 percent price drop isn’t even the most extreme video game example of this in recent months. The new Mario Red OLED Switch was briefly listed for just a penny on Amazon, and I saw evidence of people who managed to buy it for that price. Whether those sales were fulfilled, I couldn’t tell you.
