Insider has bad news for PlayStation fans

Jeff Grubb reports that there is no news from him regarding a PlayStation Showcase or State of Play, despite player expectations. Many important announcements have been made throughout the year and with titles such as Concord That aside, PlayStation leaders might be interested in giving fans something else to look forward to. It's not unreasonable to look to the end of the year for further announcements.

Although there have been many big PlayStation releases in 2024, for example Helldivers 2, Star BladeAND AstrobotsGamers who enjoyed these titles may be looking for something else to enjoy. Naughty Dog has projects in the works, Sucker Punch Productions has announced Yotei's ghostand Kojima Productions is continuing to work on it Death Stranding 2. There's a promising lineup in the future of PlayStation 5, but it's unclear when fans will actually get more information on any of these games. Some hoped that an early winter State of Play or Showcase could be that moment.

As we near the end of 2024, many people are expecting a few more big announcements for upcoming PlayStation exclusives and other industry leaders, but the lack of rumors from reliable insiders suggests there may be few, if any, big developments for PlayStation in the immediate future.

PlayStation's 2024 may be over

Some fans pointed out that Sony had a State of Play of January 2024, using it as evidence to suggest the likelihood of an event in early 2025. Others believe there's still a chance for a show in November or December, and this information they will emerge at the end of November. While there's a lot of anticipation about what the next steps will be for PlayStation, there's another event that gamers may be pinning all their hopes on.

Many seem to believe that the 2024 Game Awards show is where the big announcements for later in the year will happen. Xbox, Nintendo, and PlayStation have all used the event at some point to release big reveals, so it might be reasonable to believe that this trend will continue. Nintendo fans believe the Game Awards will be a great window to reveal the Switch 2 since so many people will be tuning in to see what's going on, and Sony could use some of that time to focus on larger PlayStation announcements as well, given the opportunity.

Sony's PlayStation 5 is part of the ninth generation of consoles and debuted with a launch lineup that included Demon's Souls and Astro's Playroom. The console ships with a Blu-ray disc, although a digital-only edition is also available for a cheaper price.
