Hunter x Hunter Chapter 405: Two Hisoka

Hunter x hunter 405 impresses, as previous chapters have. In HxH 405, the story abandons the plots concerning Princes Kakin and Kurapika, and instead returns to the story of the Mafia War and the Ghost Troupe.

This chapter sees the return of fan-favorite character Hisoka, as his involvement in this story arc only grows. The preparation for what is to come is immense.

Hisoka's true return

The Hisoka seen before was Bonolenov

Hunter x hunter 405 opens with a poker game and reveals the return of a long-awaited character, Hisoka. Previously inside HxHfans had seen what they believed was Hisoka, found by Xi-Yu members Zakuro and Lynch. However, Hisoka was a fake, meaning this is the first time Hisoka has been seen in a long time.

This chapter shows Hisoka's thoughts. It is revealed that Hisoka was not interested in fighting the Chimera Ants, despite their insane power. He was also not interested in Halkenburg's ability, as he had learned that it is a group ability and not something he could fight 1-on-1 with. Hisoka also revealed that he had no interest in fighting groups or non-humans, not no matter how powerful they were. Hisoka wants to be able to devastate his enemy one on one.

I'm normal. Group games or tantrums with animals do nothing for me. All I want is to ravage a partner one on one. —Hisoka

Soon after, fans got to see another Hisoka after the first Hisoka. This is actually not the real Hisoka, but Bonolenov, an underrated member of the Spiders disguised as him using his Nen ability, Metamorphose, following Chrollo's order. Metamorphose works by allowing Bonolenov to transform into someone he has spoken to, and he can maintain this form for as long as he spends face-to-face with that individual. Bonolenov also believes that he can transform people shorter than himself for a shorter period.

Chrollo entrusted Bonolenov with this risky mission to give the mafia families the impression that he has kept the balance on the Black Whale. If the mafia family plans to keep Hisoka under surveillance, they won't have any problems with the Phantom Troupe running around. This was seen in previous chapters when a Xi-Yu captured the fake Hisoka. But something didn't go according to plan, when Lynch, a woman who has the Nen ability that forces anyone she punches into a question to be answered truthfully, asked Bonolenov if he was Hisoka, to which he replied no. This led Bonolenov to kill her, as she knew too much. However, he kept Zakuro alive, as he needed him.

Currently, Bonolenov has changed his disguise from Hisoka, to what appears to be an Owl, one of the Shadow Beasts seen in the Yorknew story arc at the time.

Chrollo's hunt for the powerful Nen ability

This Nen ability will kill Hisoka forever

In Hunter x Hunter 405, Bonolenov seemed concerned about Chrollo's mental state following the deaths of Shalnark and Kortopi. Chrollo had asked him to transform into Hisoka and, if he wanted to find Hisoka, to transform into someone else and, above all, not to fight him. Bonolenov was more than willing not to fight Hisoka, as he would be at a huge disadvantage anyway.

Bonolenov, however, reveals that Chrollo didn't bring up any of this during the meeting, as he likely wants to deal with Hisoka himself. Bonolenov would prefer Nobunaga and his group to deal with Hisoka due to Chrollo's state.

It is revealed that Chrollo is actually looking for something on this black whale that will give him the power to kill Hisoka forever. That treasure in question definitely refers to a Nen skill that he wants to steal with Skill Hunter. What this ability is, however, is unknown, but it is not impossible that Togashi has already demonstrated it in some way. It's possible that whatever ability Chrollo is seeking, it will be the end of him once he uses it on Hisoka. This may soon spell the end of the Phantom Troupe.

This chapter also shows Chrollo walking alone. An announcement was broadcast on the news about the tenth anniversary of what is described as a brutal murder of someone known as Mr. Lisnorth. This man masqueraded as the president of an organization that helped disadvantaged children; however, what he actually did is much darker. He was one of the men involved in the brutal killing of Sarsa, a young girl from Meteor City whose death caused the creation of the Phantom Troupe.

This man was definitely killed by the Spiders in revenge 10 years ago. Chrollo just thinks about how embarrassed people are to believe that this man was a good person and everything the media says about him.

The Phantom Troupe and Heil-Ly

• The members of Heil-Ly are growing stronger and stronger

In HxH 404, the last panel showed Nobunaga with his group, which includes Feitan and Phinks. They had abandoned their plan to head directly to Heil-Ly's hideout and instead wanted to go and ask some questions of the other mafia families. In HxH 405, fans see them do just that. Nobunaga meets Keni Wang and Tajao, the underchief and deputy head of the Cha-R family. Nobunaga asks them about the leader of Heil-Ly and how they function as a group. Heil-Ly was recently taken over by a new leader, Morena, after the death of the previous one. Wang admits that he doesn't know Morena well enough to know her true intentions regarding everything that happens since, unlike the other two mafia families, Heil-Ly kills many innocent civilians.

Nobunaga and his group realize that Heil-Ly wants to destroy everything, including everyone on this ship and basically Kakin itself. They also conclude that they gain more power by killing people.

At the end of the chapter, Tajao leads Nobunaga's group to a previously sealed door, one that they said they would let him use once they actually worked together. This door is a passage between the different levels of the Black Whale.

Hunter X Hunter Chapter 405 also shows Morena again, along with the rest of the Heil-Ly. As it stands, many members have leveled up drastically, with the highest right now being Dogman, at 62. It has been revealed that he is able to smell Nen type, proficiency, and even fully identify them depending on how close they are . to him. Morena wants them to kidnap someone and force him to work with them, but this person is currently unknown. It seems they are not Nen users, so it is unknown what he would want from them.
