Many cinematic villains from Dragon Ball history have entered Dragon Ball: Sparking Zeroand few are as iconic as Frieza's older brother, Cooler. The power of this alien fighter is not only enough to rival his brother, but he also has an additional final form and a metallic version.

Cooler in versus and online matches
Cooler's overall moveset is similar to Frieza's, mainly due to the same body structure. However, his Psychokinesis can be chained together, creating a nice potential combo loop once you catch the enemy by surprise; although with his skill count rising to four, you can only do this twice.
Darkness Eye Beam is a great harassing tool for dealing with opponents who tend to dodge your special moves rather than block them, but it's not a projectile type, so you can be easily countered. To cause fights between beams, it is best to use the energy wave at full power.
The Death Ball is the basic decisive move of the Frieza race, sharing the move's main weakness: the way it is executed. Since you start with the Death Ball on top of you, many beams or even quick Rush Supers can interrupt it, causing you to waste your Sparking Mode.

Cooler (final form) in Versus and online matches
Cooler in his final form is a far superior version of the character, having all the strengths of the previous form and covering almost all the weaknesses. The main point in choosing Cooler's base form is to save on DP, as the base form is six points while the final form is seven.
Transforming into Cooler's final form costs 2 skill counts and you gain an extra half health bar.
You can still chain one Psychokinesis after another, but you also have the Psycho Barrier ability which interrupts combos and can save you when you're in trouble. It's not as effective as the Blast Wave ability found on most Vegeta characters, but it's still useful.
As for Supers, he now has a healthy mix of Rush and Beam Supers, with Death Beam being his best. It costs only two Ki Bars and is one of the fastest beams in the game, capable of interrupting most throws as they happen.
His ultimate move, Supernova, starts as fast as a normal Beam Super, making it easier to connect than most characters from Frieza's races. Once connected, Cooler still launches a large ball of energy at his opponent, but he does so during a cutscene.

Metal Cooler in Versus and online matches
Metal Cooler has many of Cooler's moves, but works very differently. For starters, he counts as an Android character, meaning he can't charge Ki (except to enter Sparking Mode), but is passively charged as the match progresses.
He's also a character that can be picked multiple times, making him a good character to master if you're faced with a team battle. In DP battles, however, you may only take two Metal Coolers (as they cost seven DP each), so keep that in mind.
His abilities are completely different from those of all other members of the Frieza race as he possesses Instant Transmission and Regeneration. Since Metal Cooler can't transform, it's best to save your skill count for regeneration, using Instant Trans only when you need to close the game.
Finger Blitz Barrage is your harassment tool, best used to interrupt whatever your opponent is trying to do or to expend their Afterimage charges. Lock-On Buster is a little expensive for the damage it does, but since it's unblockable, it's yet another tool for closing out games with surprising speed.
Metal Cooler's ultimate move is Supernova, and while it shares the same name as the ultimate move for Cooler's final form, it functions exactly like the base form's Death Ball. This makes him an average Ultimate overall, but with all the other tools at Metal Cooler's disposal, he's probably the best character form to master.
