As Honkai: Star Rail gets more updates, the developers add various new game modes to extend the endgame content. This is usually done by adding new areas to the Simulated Universe, and Gold And Gears was another addition here during the Version 1.6 update.

Honkai: Star Rail – Simulated Universe World Five Guide
Here’s everything you need to know to beat this World of the Simulated Universe in Honkai: Star Rail.
You can unlock this game mode by finishing the fifth world on any difficulty, and it allows you to use the Erudition Path anywhere in the Simulated Universe once finished. However, you must get used to the Dice Customization mechanic if you want to win in this mode.
Complete Dice Passive Effect Guide
When you first open the Gold And Gears menu in the Simulated Universe, you’ll see a Dice Customization and a Dice Face Index section on the main screen. The former lets you choose your favorite Dice passive and faces while the latter lets you keep track of all the Dice faces that you’ve unlocked.
There are a total of 12 unique dice with their own initial and passive effect in this mode, but only three of them will be open to you at the start. You have to complete any difficulty with the first dice in the Beacon, Domain, and Knowledge sections to unlock the other two.
To unlock all three dice in the Heterogeneity section, you have to complete any difficulty with at least six dice from other sections.
The passive effects of each die should be your main focus since you get a Path Boost based on your path whenever you trigger it. The initial effect is only there to serve as a catalyst for easier trigger of the passive effect, and here are all the effects you can get:
Dice Type |
Name |
Passive Effect |
---|---|---|
Beacon |
Trotter Extrapolation |
Every time you defeat a Trotter in battle, you can get 80 Cosmic Fragments. |
Walker Symbiosis |
If you give the Knowledge effect to a new domain, a random beacon gets generated there. You can get a path boost when you enter a domain with Knowledge. |
|
Ultra-Remote Beacon |
When you enter a domain with any beacon, you can get one Blessing. However, this can only be triggered once for each beacon in each plane. |
|
Domain |
Occurrence Extrapolation |
Entering an Occurrence, Occurrence: Abnormal, or Reward domain lets you choose one Blessing. |
Combat Extrapolation |
Every time you win against an Elite boss in their room, you can choose a Curio. |
|
Pursuit |
You can move to any room with the same effect as your current room during the entire run, and the first and third plane gets extended to be the same size as the second one. |
|
Knowledge |
Countdown |
Reduces your Countdown by five at the start, but you gain one stack every time you enter a domain with Knowledge. When entering the final boss room in each plane, you can choose a blessing for every ten Countdown points you have. |
Amber Barrier |
Domains that have the Knowledge effect can no longer collapse. You can also get some Cosmic Fragments when you enter certain domains based on the total rooms with the Knowledge effect. |
|
Investment Sale |
You get 50 Cosmic Fragments every time a domain with Knowledge collapses, and this reward doubles if the collapsed domain is Elite, Reward, or Adventure. You also get double rewards if the collapsed domain contains a beacon. |
|
Heterogeneity |
Company Time |
You get 30 percent of your Cosmic Fragments back when purchasing items from any shop. |
Curio Extrapolation |
You get 40 Cosmic Fragments every time you acquire a Curio. |
|
Data Inflation |
You get a reroll chance every time you move to the next room and the General Buff dice faces don’t expire. |
All passive effects in Gold And Gears can outshine in their own way as long as you use them correctly.
Once you select the passive effect you want to go with, the next step is to select up to six dice faces for the run. Initially, you can only select two gold, two purple, and two blue dice faces. However, as you upgrade your Neural Network, you’ll be able to select three gold and three purple faces.
Some of the passive effects mentioned above might not be as good until you unlock certain dice faces for them.
How To Unlock More Dice Faces
When you first start playing Gold And Gears, you’ll only have a selection of a few dice faces to use from. However, there’s a way you can unlock many more of these, and you get Stellar Jades for reaching the 16, 32, 48, 64, and 80 total faces unlocked. This is done by unlocking various Trailblaze and Aeon Secrets.
You can maintain your Cognition Value between a certain threshold during each plane to unlock new Secrets. The rewards for unlocking these secrets can then be claimed in the Gold And Gears section of the main menu, which will give you new dice faces.
